PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between rak macka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yao Ming (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ming has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Yao Ming told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yao Ming!
The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
macka shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Ming looks gassed!
macka shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ming pinned against the cage. Ming gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
macka throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Ming's waist but Ming gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing macka off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for rak macka. That's going to take a lot out of him.
macka misses with the combination.

Ming shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in macka's guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Ming tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and macka counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by macka.

macka breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
macka shoots in but Ming avoids the takedown attempt easily.
macka throws a body kick that digs right into the meat.

macka closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ming tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. macka smiles and moves away.

Ming gets a takedown into half guard.
macka works his way to full guard. Good work.

Ming with a nice head shot there.
macka has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
macka utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Ming throwing strikes from guard but macka blocks nicely.

Ming decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Ming keeps the fight on the outside.

Ming forces macka back against the cage and clinches.
Ming with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Ming gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from macka.

macka escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
macka tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ming swats him away and circles back towards the center.

macka pushes Ming up against the cage in a clinch.

macka is working for takedown but Ming is calmly controlling the position for now.
Ming throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but macka blocks it with crossed arms.

macka looks to land a combination. Ming sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Ming closes the distance but macka moves to the side

and macka counters by clinching up.
macka controlling the action here for a moment.

macka prevents Ming from breaking the clinch.
The is referee keeping an eye on macka - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Ming is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ming misses with a knee strike.
macka has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Ming avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
macka is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

macka is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
macka is looking to stand up but Ming isn't so interested in that idea.

macka misses with a takedown attempt - Ming sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Ming is staying active underneath macka, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. macka connects with a nice short shot to Ming's temple.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

macka is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ming defends it well.
macka wants to stand up but Ming is controlling the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.

Ming manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
macka tries to hold on but Ming pushes him away.

Ming has hold of macka's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and macka manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Ming keeps control of macka as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

It looks like rak macka has been cut.

Ming has hold of one of macka's legs. macka is fighting the takedown attempt but Ming gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Ming postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
macka bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ming's guard.

macka stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Ming walks into a stiff left hand from macka.
Ming tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
macka has a takedown stuffed.

Ming has clasped his hands together around macka's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ming stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. macka swivels though and keeps the full guard.
macka lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ming!
Ming tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee warns Ming that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Ming is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
macka looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Ming is still in real trouble! Can macka finish him?

Ming has left one of his arms exposed and macka doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Ming screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
