Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nicolai Romanov! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jhrgryn Raedwulfson! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Ben Zyskovitsi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Romanov dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Raedwulfson. That did some damage! Romanov misses with a body kick. Romanov throws a quick inside leg kick. Oooooh!!! Raedwulfson has knocked Romanov down with a huge combo! Raedwulfson steps away and waves a wobbly Romanov back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!
It looks like Nicolai Romanov has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Raedwulfson thows a leg kick but Romanov checks it and Romanov counters with a shoot takedown. Raedwulfson fights it but they end up in guard. Raedwulfson is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Romanov trying to control but Raedwulfson is working from the bottom. Romanov controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Raedwulfson has momentary wrist control but Romanov slips an elbow through the middle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Raedwulfson keeping moving, preventing Romanov from controlling successfully. Raedwulfson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Romanov is one step ahead there. Romanov trying to control but Raedwulfson is working from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Romanov stands up over Raedwulfson, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Romanov working some strikes from top position. Romanov content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Raedwulfson can do anything to dispel that myth. Romanov pushes down on Raedwulfson's leg and manages to get into half guard. Raedwulfson scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Romanov manages to mount him!
Romanov postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Raedwulfson looks a forlorn figure.
Raedwulfson in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Raedwulfson is looking to get back to his feet - it's going to be hard from this position. Romanov pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Romanov landing strikes from the mount and Raedwulfson is in trouble! Romanov scoring with strikes but Raedwulfson is staying in there.
Raedwulfson is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Romanov postures up and throws a big right hand. BOOM! Right on the button! Raedwulfson is out cold - huge knockout for Romanov!
