Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Cook (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus J Matthews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matthews has chosen "Here Comes The Pain" by Jim Johnston as his entrance music. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Stephen Cook! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Marcus J Matthews! The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Sam Margolis and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The fighters circling - Matthews throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Cook throws a jab but it's blocked by Matthews. Matthews changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Cook tries to avoid it but Matthews manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Cook to the ground. Cook escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Good shot there by Cook. Cook misses with a wild combination.
A shot to de liver by Cook. Beautiful body shot. Cook lands with a thumping leg kick.
Cook with a hook. Cook misses with a two punch combination.
Cook fails to land with a series of punches.
Cook rushes Matthews and presses him up against the cage. Cook wants to break free but Matthews has control.
Cook wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Matthews has him pressed against the cage. Cook breaks from the clinch.
Matthews stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Cook. Matthews shoots for a double leg takedown but Cook sprawls well. He's pushed Matthews's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Cook throws a series of punches but Matthews moves out of range. The fight stays on the outside here - Matthews looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Cook misses with the combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Matthews fails with an attempt to clinch.

Cook throws a series of punches but Matthews avoids them all with ease. Cook throws a hook to the side of Matthews's head but Matthews sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Cook swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Matthews. Cook throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Matthews shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Cook as he avoids it easily. Stephen Cook has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Marcus J Matthews. Matthews looks gassed! Matthews gets a takedown into half guard. Cook desperately trying to maintain half guard. Cook is trying to control but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Matthews sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Cook defending well though. Cook looks like he's trying to stand up.
Matthews thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Cook's head. Matthews has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Cook is trying to stand up here but Matthews is controlling him well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Matthews wants to stand but Cook has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Matthews is looking to take a break and control but Cook is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Cook stuffs the takedown attempt from Matthews. Matthews gets slowly back to his feet. Cook works over Matthews's head and body with a nice combination. Cook swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Matthews wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. No luck for Matthews with that takedown attempt. Cook looks to land a combination but Matthews avoids it well. No joy there for Cook, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Cook. No joy for Matthews on that attempt. Cook tries to land a leg kick but Matthews saw it coming and moves away.
Nice shot lands for Cook. Matthews throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Matthews shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Cook but Cook pushes him off and we're back to square one. Matthews shoots in but Cook avoids the takedown attempt easily. Matthews stalks Cook and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cook's face. Cook staggers backwards, shaken. Cook's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Cook duly obliges. Donk. Cook catches Matthews right on the button with a cross.
Matthews is rocked! Matthews fails with a takedown attempt. Matthews is still on wobbly legs! Can Cook finish him? Matthews walks straight into a right hand from Cook - that's dropped him! Cook jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Matthews from any more punishment! Matthews complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Stephen Cook!
