Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Balboa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stephen Patrick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Randy Balboa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Stephen Patrick!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, John Mangel and Winston Howard.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patrick throws a right and a left that both miss.
Balboa changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Patrick tries to avoid it but Balboa manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Patrick to the ground. Patrick escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Balboa gets a takedown into half guard.
Balboa sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Patrick defending well though.
Patrick keeping hold of Balboa's head, controlling as best he can.
Patrick is trying to control but can't.
Balboa prevents Patrick from improving his position.
Balboa throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Patrick has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Balboa is working away from the top position though.
Patrick moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Balboa being controlled here momentarily.

Patrick is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Balboa thows a big elbow that misses.
Balboa trying to control but Patrick is working from the bottom.

Patrick looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Balboa won't allow Patrick to sweep him here.
Balboa wants to stand but Patrick is controlling his posture from full guard.
Balboa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Balboa trying to control the action but Patrick is working from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Balboa throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Patrick lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Nice sprawl there from Patrick as Balboa shoots in.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The fighters circle momentarily. Patrick darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Patrick lands a nice hook to Balboa's body. Balboa takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Balboa is breathing heavily.
Balboa moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Balboa needs to keep his hands up - Patrick had a free shot at his head there.


Balboa is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!
Balboa shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Patrick as he jumps to the side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Randy Balboa. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Patrick lands with a nice body punch.
Patrick keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Patrick throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Balboa looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Patrick misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Balboa.
Patrick swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Patrick throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Patrick takes a swing at Balboa's ribcage but misses.
Balboa tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Patrick paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Balboa scores with a punch to the head.
Balboa wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Balboa fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Stephen Patrick seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Patrick with a body punch. A glancing blow.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Balboa is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Balboa throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Balboa fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Patrick sprawls well initially but Balboa persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Patrick is positioning himself well to prevent Balboa advancing to mount.
Patrick tries to roll over but Balboa keeps him under control.
Balboa working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Patrick is doing well to avoid being mounted. He's controlling the position at the moment.
Balboa seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Patrick keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Balboa thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Patrick's head.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Balboa wants to take a breather but Patrick is having none of it.

Balboa is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Balboa not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Patrick gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Balboa lands with a slapping head kick.
Patrick lands with a nice body punch.
Balboa misses with a head kick.
Patrick waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Balboa.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Patrick misses with a lunging right hand

and Balboa holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Balboa tries to score a body lock takedown but Patrick shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Patrick is looking to break free of the clinch but Balboa has double underhooks.

Balboa escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Balboa lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


Patrick is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Balboa throws a left and a right that both miss
and Patrick counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Balboa thinking.
Balboa avoids the body shot from Patrick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stephen Patrick dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Balboa tries a head kick but it misses.
A head kick from Balboa lands but Patrick takes it in his stride.
Patrick is still on wobbly legs! Can Balboa finish him?
Randy Balboa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Balboa throws a series of punches but Patrick moves out of range.
Balboa misses with a double jab
and Patrick counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Balboa connects with a stiff jab that staggers Patrick - oh and he follows up with a huge uppercut that knocks him out cold! Man, that was brutal!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Randy Balboa!
