Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Joe Foe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Jaa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jaa is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Search and Destroy. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joe Foe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tony Jaa!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Jaa. No joy for Foe on that attempt.
Foe shoots for a takedown but Jaa saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Jaa looks for the body kick but Foe saw that one coming.
A head kick misses from Jaa.
Jaa misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nice takedown defense from Jaa. No joy for Foe on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Joe Foe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Jaa avoids the body shot from Foe.

Foe looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Foe not doing much here.
Foe thows a huge punch but Jaa dodges it nicely.

Foe might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Foe wants to pass the guard but Jaa is keeping the position.
Foe stays in close to Jaa's body and controls the position.
Foe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jaa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jaa is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Jaa has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Foe can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Jaa trying to keep a closed guard but Foe is proving a slippery customer.
Foe lands a couple of elbows.

Foe drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jaa looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jaa looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jaa!
Jaa looks up at the clock and then as Foe takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Jaa smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Foe is trying to control Jaa's posture but Jaa avoids it.

Jaa stands up and beckons Foe to his feet.
Foe shoots in for a double leg but Jaa sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Foe lands with a good body shot.
Jaa throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Jaa misses with a body kick.
Jaa throws a hook to the side of Foe's head but Foe sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Jaa throws a head kick that misses.
Foe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Jaa pinned against the cage. Jaa gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Foe shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Jaa as he avoids it easily.
Jaa tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Foe scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Jaa bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Jaa fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Foe checks it well.
Foe lands with a nice combination. Jaa backs away looking to recover.


It looks like Tony Jaa has been cut.
Nice straight punches there by Foe. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Foe.
Horrible takedown by Foe or perhaps it was just good defense by Jaa which made him look bad.
Jaa throws a head kick but Foe moves out of range.
Jaa throws a half hearted mid kick.
Foe tried to score with a low kick but Jaa checks it.

Foe bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Joe Foe will probably get the nod.

That's time! Foe's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Foe will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jaa throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Jaa thows a body kick. Foe tries to catch it but that hurt him.

Foe scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Foe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jaa keeps working.
Jaa is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Foe scores with a couple of nice shots.

Jaa is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Foe pulls his head out easily.
Foe thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jaa's head.
Foe not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Jaa is looking for a sweep. Foe is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Jaa regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Foe.

Foe stands up over Jaa, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Foe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jaa swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jaa is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Foe wants to control from the top but Jaa keeps moving.

Jaa tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Jaa enables Foe to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Jaa manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Foe scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Jaa can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Foe controls the pace.

Jaa keeping moving, preventing Foe from controlling successfully.
Foe postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Foe scoring with punches to the head and body.
Foe throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Foe is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Jaa is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Jaa has escaped and now he's on top!
Jaa lands a couple of digs.

Foe looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jaa passes into side control.

Foe sneaks back into half guard.
Foe avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jaa.
Jaa misses with a head shot. Foe uses the momentum to regain guard.
Jaa trying to control the position from guard on top but Foe is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jaa postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Jaa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Foe is keeping the position for now.
Jaa scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Joe Foe will probably get the nod.

That's time! Back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Jaa moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Foe moves out of range of the body kick from Jaa.
Jaa throws a sloppy head kick and Foe moves out of range easily.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Jaa.
Foe fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jaa moves in looking to clinch but Foe pushes him off.
Foe blocks a head kick by Jaa.
Jaa thows a leg kick but Foe checks it

and Foe counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jaa!
Foe is landing with some decent strikes but Jaa is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Foe cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jaa is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That has opened up Tony Jaa's cut even more.
Foe looking to control but Jaa is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Jaa takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Foe looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Foe lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The referee warns Jaa that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Foe has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jaa's face.

The cut above Tony Jaa's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Tony Jaa's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
