And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Adam Silva!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De La Renta is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
De La Renta tries to clinch but Silva moves out of range.
De La Renta fails in his attempt to clinch.

Silva takes a knee to the side of the body.
De La Renta tries a knee to the head but he's missed.

and Silva counters by clinching up.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Silva is looking to take a break and control but De La Renta is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Silva tries to move into full mount but can't pass De La Renta's legs.

Silva goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, De La Renta rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Silva's guard! Nice work there by De La Renta!

Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. De La Renta doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. De La Renta manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


De La Renta tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Silva counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
De La Renta is staying active underneath Silva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
De La Renta tries to get to full guard but Silva has control of the leg.
Silva is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for De La Renta!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Adam Silva wasn't active enough on the ground.
De La Renta tries to clinch up

and Silva counters by moving into the clinch.
De La Renta misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Silva.
De La Renta stalls.
Silva takes a knee right on the jaw!
The referee is keeping an eye on Silva - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
De La Renta throws a knee to the head but misses.

Silva fails to pull the fight into his guard.

De La Renta lands a nice knee to the body.
De La Renta tries to land knees in the clinch but Silva avoids the damage to the body.
Silva is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Silva tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. De La Renta smiles and moves away.
Rodrigo De La Renta has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Silva.
De La Renta tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Silva counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for De La Renta!
Silva content just to control the position here.
Silva sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
De La Renta suckers Silva into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! De La Renta is now in Silva's guard!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Silva pulls De La Renta in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Adam Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


De La Renta tries to clinch up

and Silva counters with a takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Silva moves into full mount!
De La Renta wants to hold on but Silva pushes him away.
Silva trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Silva jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but De La Renta manages to avoid the submission attempt.

De La Renta prevents Silva from moving into mount.
Silva trying to control the action but De La Renta is working from the bottom.
Silva is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Silva looking to control but instead De La Renta has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Silva passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for De La Renta!

Silva goes for an armbar but he's not got it… De La Renta turns into him and now he's in Silva's guard.
De La Renta will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
De La Renta trying to control the position from guard on top but Silva is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
De La Renta has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Silva pulls De La Renta in close to his closed guard and prevents De La Renta from doing any damage or advancing position.

I've got Silva winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
