Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Adaru Kitano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Esa Nahka! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Anthony Taglia and John Kavanagh.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Kitano. Nahka is looking to regain half guard here but Kitano keeps moving and retains side control. Kitano tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Nahka struggling a bit here. Nahka tries to get back to half guard but can't. Kitano is looking to take a break and control but Nahka is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Nahka tries to improve position but can't. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kitano wants to lay and pray for a moment but Nahka keeps working.
That's one minute gone in the round. Nahka tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Kitano wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Kitano misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nahka with a lazy takedown attempt and Kitano counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Kitano. Kitano tries to free his leg and advance position but Nahka is retaining full guard. Nahka looking to hit a scissor sweep but Kitano is one step ahead there. Kitano trying to control but Nahka is working from the bottom. Kitano forces his way into half guard. Kitano seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Nahka does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Nahka wants to control but Kitano is keeping busy.
Kitano wants to work for an arm triangle but Nahka is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kitano is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kitano is breathing heavily. Nahka is trying to stand back up but Kitano is controlling him
Kitano moves nicely into side control. Kitano is looking to take a break and control but Nahka is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Nahka tries to buck Kitano off but Kitano is having none of it. That's three minutes gone in the round. Nahka is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Nahka isn't going anywhere. Nahka regains half guard. Nahka connecting with a few gentle strikes. Nahka is trying to stand.
Nahka is looking to control Kitano's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Nahka avoid being mounted? Nahka wants to get back to his feet. Kitano is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Nahka has managed to free his arm - good work. Kitano is looking to advance position but Nahka won't allow it.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Nahka gets back to full guard.
Kitano wants to pass the guard but Nahka is keeping the position. Nahka is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Kitano is controlling him.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Kitano keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Nahka. Kitano throws a good cross that connects.
Kitano closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Nahka to the mat! Nahka manages to get full guard.
Nahka is rocked! Kitano pushes down on Nahka's leg and manages to get into half guard. Nahka is still in real trouble! Can Kitano finish him? Kitano moves nicely into side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Adaru Kitano dominated that round. That's time! Kitano's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Kitano throws a wild body kick that Nahka sees coming a mile off. Nahka seems to have recovered his senses. Nahka shoots and misses and Kitano counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Kitano works his way into full mount! Kitano swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Nahka is now in Kitano's guard. A big mistake from Kitano there, giving up the dominant position! Kitano is trying to control the position but Nahka postures up. Kitano escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Nahka gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Nahka is breathing heavily. Kitano has a closed guard, preventing Nahka from standing up. Kitano is trying to control the position but Nahka postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kitano keeping full guard, as Nahka tries to pass. Nahka avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Kitano keeping moving, preventing Nahka from controlling successfully. Nahka throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kitano works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Nahka wants to stand and escape but instead Kitano has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Kitano passes Nahka's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Nahka wants to get back to full guard but Kitano has mounted him! Kitano jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Nahka manages to avoid the submission attempt. Nahka manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Kitano keeping control of the position. Kitano blocking the ground and pound attempt from Nahka.
That's three minutes gone in the round. It looks like Nahka is going to stand back up.
Nahka landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Kitano wants to control but Nahka is keeping busy.
Kitano tries to roll over but Nahka keeps him under control. Nahka thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kitano actively working from the bottom here.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Nahka tries for a takedown but Kitano circles away easily and Kitano counters with a two punch combo. Nahka shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Nahka showed some decent athleticism there. Nahka trying to control the action but Kitano is working from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kitano moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Kitano is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Nahka rolls with it to try and escape but Kitano cranks on the arm and Nahka is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
