Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Blaine Bishop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Byrd (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Blaine Bishop! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ricky Byrd! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Byrd fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. Byrd throws a series of punches but Bishop avoids them all with ease. Byrd misses with a double jab.
A punch combination from Byrd misses. Byrd looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Bishop avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Byrd avoids a kick to the body.
Bishop tries to clinch but Byrd moves out of range. Byrd tries to land a front kick but Bishop steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Byrd fails to land with a series of punches.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bishop throws a combination that misses and Byrd counters with a left and a right that stings Bishop. Bishop avoids a punch combination nicely.

A clash of legs there as Bishop blocks the low kick. Byrd fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Ricky Byrd seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Bishop misses with a wild combination.
Bishop swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Byrd makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Bishop tries to clinch but Byrd moves out of range. Byrd slips a jab and a cross from Bishop.
Byrd feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Bishop avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Bishop pushes a forearm under Byrd's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Byrd is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
