Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alexander Shlemenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dimitri Makhnov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Shlemenko! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dimitri Makhnov! The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Valeri Chadov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Makhnov takes a jab right on the kisser.
Makhnov tries to clinch up. Shlemenko slips a jab and a cross from Makhnov.
Shlemenko really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Shlemenko lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Makhnov circles away quickly and effectively. Makhnov moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Makhnov shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Shlemenko's guard. Shlemenko wants to get back to his feet but Makhnov is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Makhnov's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Makhnov content to stall in guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shlemenko doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Makhnov drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Shlemenko dives on top into guard. Makhnov has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shlemenko can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Shlemenko stands and steps away. Makhnov gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Makhnov darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Makhnov wants to pass to mount but Shlemenko is defending the position. Shlemenko wants to get back to his feet.
Makhnov wants to take a breather but Shlemenko is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shlemenko is looking to escape. Makhnov is looking to take a break and control but Shlemenko is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Shlemenko slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Shlemenko is wriggling around but Makhnov manages to pass to half guard.
Makhnov stops Shlemenko from getting back to his feet.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Shlemenko manages to escape and get back to his feet! Makhnov instigates a clinch.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Makhnov fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Shlemenko trying to stand up but can't free himself from Makhnov's guard. Shlemenko gets to his feet - Makhnov follows without any prompting. Makhnov is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Makhnov shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shlemenko pinned against the cage. Shlemenko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Dimitri Makhnov will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Makhnov shoots for a double leg takedown but Shlemenko sprawls well. He's pushed Makhnov's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Shlemenko throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Makhnov wants to clinch. Shlemenko scores with a jab to the jaw.

Makhnov is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Shlemenko's half guard. Still in half guard, Makhnov seems content to control. Makhnov wants to pass the guard but Shlemenko is defending well.

Makhnov shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Shlemenko but Shlemenko pushes him off and we're back to square one. Makhnov fails to land the takedown. Alexander Shlemenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dimitri Makhnov. Makhnov has a takedown stuffed. Shlemenko is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shlemenko tries to close the distance and clinch up but Makhnov swats him away and circles back towards the center. Makhnov shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Shlemenko as he jumps to the side. Shlemenko misses with a series of wild punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Good shot there by Shlemenko. Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world. Shlemenko scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Makhnov shoots for a takedown but Shlemenko saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Makhnov tries to clinch enabling Shlemenko to counter with a crisp jab. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Makhnov throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Shlemenko counters with a series of strikes. Makhnov will be more careful next time no doubt. Makhnov with a poor takedown and Shlemenko counters with a left and a right that stings Makhnov. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Alexander Shlemenko dominated that second round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Makhnov tries to clinch up and Shlemenko cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Makhnov misses with a takedown attempt letting Shlemenko counter with a right hand. Shlemenko shoots in and gets a takedown into Makhnov's guard. Makhnov trying to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Shlemenko lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Makhnov misses with a takedown attempt and Shlemenko counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Makhnov shoots and misses and Shlemenko counters with a two punch combo. Alexander Shlemenko has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dimitri Makhnov. Makhnov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Shlemenko connects with a jab. Makhnov shoots and misses and Shlemenko counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Makhnov tries to clinch and Shlemenko counters with a series of strikes. Makhnov will be more careful next time no doubt. Makhnov has his takedown stuffed and Shlemenko counters with a flying knee. Nice. Makhnov swats away the attempt to clinch by Shlemenko. Makhnov takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Makhnov shoots and misses and Shlemenko counters with a nice uppercut. Shlemenko lands with a kick to the temple. Makhnov shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Shlemenko cracks the inside of Makhnov's front leg. Shlemenko connects with the punch. Shlemenko lands a jab-cross combination. Shlemenko is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A punch combination from Shlemenko misses. Makhnov shoots and misses letting Shlemenko counter with a right hand. Makhnov walks into a stiff left hand from Shlemenko. Shlemenko gets a clinch. Shlemenko breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Shlemenko throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Makhnov has his takedown stuffed and Shlemenko counters with a straight right hand.
And that's the end of the fight! Alexander Shlemenko showed his dominance in that final round. I think Shlemenko has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
