Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nate Borgstein (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francis Okocha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nate Borgstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Francis Okocha!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okocha tries to close the distance and clinch up but Borgstein swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Borgstein gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Borgstein closes the distance and clinches.
Okocha tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Borgstein just stands there and leans against the cage.
Okocha misses with a punch to the body.
Okocha fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Nate Borgstein has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Francis Okocha.

Okocha breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Okocha is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Okocha tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Borgstein counters with a takedown into side control.

Borgstein looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Okocha wants to control but Borgstein postures up.
Borgstein in side control, just content to control the action for now.

Borgstein wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Okocha, who protects the arm well.

Borgstein decides to stand back up. Borgstein steps back and let's Okocha get back to his feet.

Okocha fails with the takedown

and Borgstein counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Still in half guard, Borgstein seems content to control.
Borgstein trying to pass the guard but Okocha defending well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Okocha is staying active underneath Borgstein, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Borgstein tries a head kick but it misses.

Borgstein is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Borgstein gets underhooks to prevent Okocha's takedown attempt.

Borgstein jumps guard and drags Okocha to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Borgstein seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Okocha sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Borgstein's guard.
Okocha tries to stand and escape but Borgstein is controlling the position.

Okocha is looking for a kimura but Borgstein is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Okocha to get the leverage.
Borgstein tries to get to full guard but Okocha has control of the leg.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Borgstein is working hard here to advance position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Okocha is thwarting Borgstein's attempts to control the position.

Borgstein has one foot on Okocha's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Okocha moves in looking to clinch but Borgstein pushes him off.

and Borgstein counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Borgstein has Okocha pressed against the cage, preventing Okocha from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Borgstein shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Okocha manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Okocha wants to stand up but Borgstein is controlling him.
Okocha is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Borgstein stops Okocha from standing up.
Borgstein is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Borgstein lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Okocha is not content to let Borgstein control the position.
Okocha is looking to reverse the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Okocha is trying to get back to his feet.
Okocha tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Borgstein slows the pace down.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Borgstein wants to control but Okocha is keeping him busy.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We're going to have a standup here because Nate Borgstein wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

and Borgstein counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Okocha's guard now.

Borgstein not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Okocha can't keep his opponent in guard - Borgstein advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Let's hope that Okocha has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Francis Okocha has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Nate Borgstein is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Okocha throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Borgstein escapes and throws Okocha's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Nate Borgstein showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Borgstein has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
