PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Al Bundy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daisuke Suzuki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bundy comes into the arena with Bad to The Bone blaring out of the sound system. Suzuki has chosen Stranglehold by Ted Nugent as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Al Bundy!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Daisuke Suzuki!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suzuki throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.

Bundy shoots in and bounces Suzuki off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Suzuki manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Bundy manages to get himself to full guard.

Suzuki is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Bundy wants to sweep here but Suzuki controlling him for the moment.
Suzuki throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Suzuki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Suzuki is fighting to break Bundy's control of his arms but Bundy is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bundy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We're going to have a standup here because Al Bundy wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Bundy throws a looping overhand right but Suzuki ducks down to avoid it.

Suzuki feints and as Bundy raises his hands in defense, Suzuki changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Suzuki looking to sit in guard and control but Bundy gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Bundy is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Suzuki is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Bundy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Suzuki with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Suzuki is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bundy's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bundy's back!

Suzuki has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Bundy has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Suzuki throws a big right hand but he misses and hits the mat. Ouch.
Will Suzuki go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Suzuki slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

A close round but Daisuke Suzuki will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

and Suzuki counters with a good low kick that Bundy was not able to check.
Bundy fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Suzuki throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Suzuki is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bundy is aware though and is defending well.

Suzuki has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Bundy is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Suzuki.

Bundy lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Suzuki throws a leg kick which misses Bundy's front leg but catches the back leg as Bundy tries to avoid it.

Suzuki throws a shot from downtown. Bundy moves away and avoids it.
Bundy throws a jab but it's blocked by Suzuki.

Bundy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Suzuki's guard.

Bundy closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Suzuki throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Bundy escapes and throws Suzuki's legs to the side, diving into side control!
Suzuki is absolutely dripping with sweat - he looks exhausted.

Bundy works to advance to full mount. Suzuki defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Bundy cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Bundy lands a nice shot to the head.
Bundy is landing with some decent strikes but Suzuki is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Suzuki wants to control but Bundy is having none of it.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Bundy postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Suzuki looks a forlorn figure.

Bundy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Suzuki tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Bundy is in Suzuki's guard.

Suzuki is looking to sinch up a triangle. Bundy throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Suzuki's body to avoid the submission. Suzuki has instead reached around Bundy's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Suzuki arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:39 of round 5, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Daisuke Suzuki!
