The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Excellent takedown into side control there by Hanamoto.
Hirai is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hanamoto looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Hirai is avoiding damage well.
Hanamoto postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Hirai is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hanamoto asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Hanamoto misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Hanamoto lands a decent elbow from side control.

Hirai pushes Hanamoto away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hanamoto gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
