Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Tyrone Bate!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Miguel Santiago!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Shigeki Sano and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bate throws a chopping leg kick but Santiago manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Bate will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Bate throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
A slapping leg kick lands for Santiago.
Santiago throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Santiago throws a leg kick but Bate moved away.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Santiago enables Bate to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Santiago manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bate trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Santiago is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Santiago wants to stand up but Bate is controlling him.
Santiago trying to keep a closed guard but Bate is proving a slippery customer.
Bate stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Santiago swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Miguel Santiago has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Bate throws a body punch but Santiago moves out of range.
Santiago misses with a kick to the body.
Bate takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Santiago uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Bate.
Santiago throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Bate connects with a good right hand that stumbles Santiago. Santiago circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Miguel Santiago is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bate. Santiago does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bate blocks a low kick nicely.
Bate misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Santiago.
Bate jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Santiago throws a leg kick
and Bate counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Santiago tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Bate showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Santiago.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Some bone on bone action there as Bate checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Bate tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Santiago was well out of range. Poor timing from Bate.

Bate on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Bate lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Bate throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Bate misses with an uppercut.
Santiago pivots, looking for a leg kick but Bate is out of range and Santiago settles back down.
A clash of legs there as Bate blocks the low kick.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Bate.
The ground and pound from Bate seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Bate is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Santiago knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

The strikes coming from Bate are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Bate lands an elbow.

Bate tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Bate prevents Santiago from escaping the position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Santiago can do anything to dispel that myth.
Sloppy strikes there by Bate.
You can see the frustration on Santiago's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Bate is trying to get an arm triangle but Santiago is defending well.
Bate working away.

Santiago avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Bate.
Santiago tries to escape but Bate is in control.
Bate scoring with punches from side control.
Santiago is looking to reverse the position.
Bate has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Santiago!

Bate is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Santiago is forced to tap! Great finish!
