Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Matts Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Floppy McPoppins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Floppy McPoppins will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Matts Serra! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Floppy McPoppins! The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Paulo Santos and Alexandre Firmino.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McPoppins bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Serra's head backwards. McPoppins shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Serra as he jumps to the side. McPoppins shoots in looking for a takedown but Serra manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McPoppins's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. McPoppins misses with a takedown attempt - Serra sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Matts Serra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Floppy McPoppins. Serra displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McPoppins. Nice sprawl there from Serra as McPoppins shoots in. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. McPoppins fails with a takedown attempt. McPoppins tries for a takedown but Serra sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

McPoppins misses with a takedown attempt - Serra sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Serra shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Serra showed some decent athleticism there. McPoppins tries to get to full guard but Serra has control of the leg. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Serra wants to take a breather but McPoppins is having none of it. Serra is really struggling to control McPoppins but he's trying to hold on to the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Serra trying to control from McPoppins's half guard. McPoppins has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Serra trying to control the position from guard on top but McPoppins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Serra might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Serra tries to free his leg and advance position but McPoppins is retaining full guard. Serra slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. McPoppins keeping moving, preventing Serra from controlling successfully.
We're going to have a standup here because Matts Serra wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. McPoppins throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
McPoppins gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Serra is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Serra wants to control from the top but McPoppins keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Matts Serra just wasn't active enough. McPoppins stuffs the takedown attempt from Serra. Serra gets slowly back to his feet. McPoppins fails with the takedown and Serra counters with a takedown into side control. McPoppins is looking for a sweep. Serra is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, McPoppins has escaped the position, nice work there. McPoppins is not content to let Serra control the position. Serra just content to control the position. Serra wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by McPoppins, who protects the arm well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Matts Serra dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
McPoppins throws a hook but Serra avoids it easily. McPoppins misses with a takedown and Serra counters with a nice double leg into guard. Serra trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Serra won't allow McPoppins to sweep him here. Serra looking to sit in guard and control but McPoppins gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Serra trying to keep a closed guard but McPoppins is proving a slippery customer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Serra is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McPoppins is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! McPoppins avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

McPoppins got a little sloppy there for a moment and Serra has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McPoppins has managed to get both his arms back between Serra's legs - danger averted. McPoppins with a nice head shot there. McPoppins is in close to Serra's body, working some short punches and elbows. McPoppins pushes down on Serra's leg and manages to get into half guard. Serra trying to control here.
Serra wants to improve his position but McPoppins is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Serra is trying to maintain the position but McPoppins is very close to passing his half guard. McPoppins winds up and cracks Serra with a swinging punch to the side of the head. McPoppins tries to pass the half guard into mount. Serra knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. McPoppins working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Serra has hold of McPoppins's hands but McPoppins slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. McPoppins winds up and cracks Serra with a swinging punch to the side of the head. McPoppins throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Matts Serra overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Serra tries to bench press McPoppins off him but McPoppins keeps the position. Serra is working hard here to advance position. McPoppins lands some shots froms side control. McPoppins with the ground and pound but Serra regains half guard under the barage of strikes. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. McPoppins connects with a nice short shot to Serra's temple. McPoppins is keen to just control but Serra is a slippery customer. McPoppins looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Serra with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Nice strikes from McPoppins there. Serra trying to control from the bottom.
Serra actively working from the bottom here. Serra wants to get back to full guard. McPoppins lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Serra gets back to full guard.

Serra sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed McPoppins's guard. McPoppins slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. McPoppins pulls Serra in close to prevent any damage. Serra has gone for a leg lock! McPoppins slips out almost immediately though and dives into Serra's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Serra is looking to sinch up a triangle. McPoppins throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Serra's body to avoid the submission. Serra has instead reached around McPoppins's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Serra arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
