The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smalls connects with a good right hand that stumbles Doza. Doza circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
It looks like Frank Doza has been cut.
Smalls moves in looking to clinch but Doza pushes him off.
No joy there for Smalls, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Smalls misses with a hook.
Doza shoots in and gets a takedown into Smalls's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Smalls wants to get back to his feet but Doza is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Smalls is trying to control the position but Doza postures up.
Doza drops back, looking for a kneebar! Smalls looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Smalls looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Smalls!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Doza takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Smalls takes a little break here. Doza wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Smalls in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.
Smalls has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Doza tries to buck Smalls off but Smalls is having none of it.
Smalls lands a few punches from side control.
Doza tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Smalls goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Doza rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Smalls's guard! Nice work there by Doza!
Doza drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Smalls dives on top into guard.
Smalls pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Doza is keeping the position for now.
Doza working for a triangle but Smalls defends it easily.
Smalls scoring with punches to the head and body.

Smalls is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Smalls is in close to Doza's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Smalls distracts Doza with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Smalls slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doza looking to hit a scissor sweep but Smalls is one step ahead there.
Smalls got a little sloppy there for a moment and Doza has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Smalls has managed to get both his arms back between Doza's legs - danger averted.
Smalls gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Smalls clinches up with Doza and pushes him back against the cage.
Smalls tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Doza stops a takedown attempt from Smalls.
Doza tries to pull guard but Smalls won't allow it.
Smalls is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Doza pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Smalls looks gassed!
Smalls tries to throw a body punch but Doza avoids it by throwing Smalls back against the cage.
Smalls is trying to trip Doza. He has hold of a leg but Doza is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Smalls persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Doza is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Doza working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Smalls.
Doza looking for a guillotine here but Smalls defends easily.
Doza is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Smalls working some strikes from top position.
Smalls sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Doza has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Smalls doesn't defend quickly enough and Doza has managed to lock this one up! Can Smalls escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Doza on a fantastic submission victory.
