Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Rural Advantage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jonathan Hawkes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Advantage comes to the cage accompanied by Drain the Blood. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Rural Advantage!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jonathan Hawkes!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Sosuke Kotani and Tatsuya Matsuyama.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hawkes throws a big overhand right that connects, sending Advantage tumbling to the canvas!


Advantage is rocked!


It looks like Rural Advantage has been cut.
Hawkes is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Oh Advantage is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Hawkes decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Advantage, up you get!

Advantage seems to have got his legs back now.

Hawkes throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Advantage tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hawkes is in Advantage's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hawkes tries to free his leg and advance position but Advantage is retaining full guard.
Hawkes keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Advantage's head.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hawkes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Advantage controls Hawkes momentarily but Hawkes frees himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hawkes throws a strike but Advantage rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Hawkes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are battling for position here. Advantage manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Hawkes drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Advantage manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hawkes has Advantage in his guard.

Hawkes had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Advantage defends it easily.

Hawkes is trying to control the position but Advantage postures up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Advantage would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Hawkes throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Advantage wants to get up but he can't break Hawkes's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Hawkes swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Advantage's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Advantage duly obliges.
Advantage lands with a good body shot.

and Hawkes decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Advantage's guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hawkes postures up in Advantage's guard and throws a big left but Advantage blocks it.

Advantage just misses with a punch to the body.

and Hawkes counters with a flying knee that sends his opponent to the canvas! Hawkes looking to finish!

Hawkes drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hawkes jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Advantage dodges the ground and pound from Hawkes.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hawkes jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Advantage is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Advantage and Hawkes has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Hawkes lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

Advantage defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Hawkes's arms.

That's time! Advantage's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
