Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Christopher Maine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenji Okabe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Christopher Maine has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Christopher Maine! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Okabe! The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Okabe tries to score a power double leg takedown but Maine sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Okabe somewhat. Okabe throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Okabe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Maine escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Okabe gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Maine is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Okabe is aware though and is defending well. Okabe working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Okabe passes Maine's left leg - he's now in half guard. Okabe is looking to take a break and control but Maine is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maine actively working from the bottom here. Okabe prevents Maine from improving his position. Maine is staying active underneath Okabe, who seems content to just control the action from this position. The fighters are battling for position here. Maine manages to regain full guard. Nice work. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Okabe drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Okabe jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Maine working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Okabe doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Okabe manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Okabe advances position into side control!
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Okabe postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Okabe landing strikes. Okabe trying to control the position but Maine is working away. Maine manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Okabe gets full guard. Okabe is looking for a triangle but Maine pushes his legs off easily.
Okabe has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Okabe working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Maine doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Maine manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Okabe has control of Maine's left arm, preventing Maine from doing any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maine won't allow Okabe to sweep him here. Maine is looking to work some ground and pound but Okabe has wrist control. Okabe has his hands on Maine's head, controlling the position. Maine wants to control from the top but Okabe keeps moving. Okabe working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Maine has passed into half guard!
Okabe won't allow Maine to pass to mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Maine frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Maine is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Okabe has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Okabe! Okabe stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maine swivels though and keeps the full guard. Okabe is pushing down on Maine's leg trying to pass to half guard. Maine is fighting to maintain full guard but Okabe has managed to sneak the leg through. Maine is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Okabe scores with a couple of nice shots. Maine looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Maine is not content to let Okabe control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kenji Okabe dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Maine misses with a body kick. No joy there for Okabe, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Okabe has a takedown stuffed. Maine throws a leg kick but Okabe moved away. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Okabe throws a shot from downtown. Maine moves away and avoids it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maine uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Okabe. Okabe cracks Maine with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes. Okabe takes a kick to the body and keeps moving. Maine slips under a jab. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Okabe is defended easily by Maine. Okabe misses with an uppercut.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Maine throws a body kick that digs right into the meat. Okabe shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Maine pinned against the cage. Maine gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Christopher Maine has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenji Okabe. Maine scores with a head kick. Okabe tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Okabe. Okabe misses with a wild body shot. Okabe thows a body shot but no joy. Okabe misses with a body shot.
Maine defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Okabe.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Maine thumps Okabe with a low kick. Okabe thows a body shot but no joy. Okabe misses with a few strikes there.
Okabe takes a swing at Maine's ribcage but misses. Okabe ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Maine moves away. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Maine showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Okabe.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Christopher Maine dominated that second round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!
Okabe throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Okabe throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Maine sees it coming and avoids it easily. Maine dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Okabe. That did some damage! Okabe looks to land a left hand but Maine moved out of range nicely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Okabe thows a left - swing and a miss! Okabe shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maine wants to get back to full guard but Okabe has mounted him! Maine bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Maine looking to pass the guard. Okabe looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Maine passes into half guard.
Maine passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Okabe! Okabe defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Maine.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Okabe tries to get back to half guard but can't. Maine swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Okabe is now in Maine's guard. A big mistake from Maine there, giving up the dominant position! Okabe pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Maine is keeping the position for now. Okabe working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Maine throws his legs up looking for a submission but Okabe uses it to pass to side control.
Maine takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maine tries to buck Okabe off but Okabe is having none of it. Okabe is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Maine has escaped the position, nice work there. Okabe wants to control but Maine is keeping him busy. Maine is looking for a sweep. Okabe is looking to take a break and control but Maine is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Maine tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Maine takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Okabe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Maine keeps working. Okabe lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Maine down.
Okabe is working Maine over with some ground and pound from side control. Maine takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Maine prevents Okabe from moving into mount. Maine tries to improve position but can't. Maine sneaks back into half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Kenji Okabe comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Okabe has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
