Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shamus Cotter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Delaney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Shamus Cotter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Jason Delaney! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Delaney closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Delaney advances to full mount. Cotter is squirming around, avoiding Delaney's attempts to control the action. Delaney throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Cotter because Delaney loaded up on that one. Cotter really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Delaney throwing strikes here but Cotter is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Delaney sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Cotter tries to hold on but Delaney postures up. Cotter wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Delaney.

That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Jason Delaney was stalling too much, according to the referee. Delaney tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Cotter swivels and escapes. Cotter shoots and misses and Delaney counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Delaney trying to control but Cotter is working from the bottom. Cotter is trying to stand up here but Delaney is controlling him well. Delaney slows the pace down in half guard. Delaney tries to pass the half guard into mount. Cotter knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jason Delaney wasn't active enough on the ground. A lazy left from Delaney finds it's target. Delaney darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Cotter wants to control but Delaney is keeping busy and won't allow it. Cotter kicks Delaney off and gets back to his feet. Excellent takedown into side control there by Delaney. Cotter is looking to reverse the position. Delaney wants to control but Cotter is keeping him busy. Delaney darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Cotter is concentrating on defense, preventing Delaney from advancing position. Delaney trying to mount his opponent but Cotter defends it. Delaney is controlling the pace.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Delaney wants to clinch up but Cotter keeps it at a distance. Cotter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Delaney counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Cotter's guard now. Cotter looking to hit a scissor sweep but Delaney is one step ahead there. Delaney trying to control the position from guard on top but Cotter is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cotter keeping full guard, as Delaney tries to pass. Cotter has Delaney pulled in close to control his posture. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Cotter gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Cotter is working an open guard so Delaney takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Cotter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Delaney counters with a shoot takedown. Cotter fights it but they end up in guard. This has been an exciting period of action! Cotter tries to land a sweep but no joy. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Delaney pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Cotter is keeping the position for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Delaney working some strikes from top position. Delaney throwing strikes but missing. Delaney controlling from the top position. Cotter bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Delaney's guard. Delaney looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Cotter puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Delaney actively working from the bottom here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Cotter is trying to control. Delaney wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Delaney makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Delaney. Cotter looking to pass the guard. Cotter stops Delaney from standing up. Cotter gets to his feet - Delaney follows without any prompting. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Delaney throws a head kick but Cotter moves out of range.
Delaney clinches up with Cotter and pushes him back against the ropes. Delaney looking to slow down the pace here. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jason Delaney showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Cotter with a poor takedown and Delaney counters with a nice double leg into guard. Delaney passes Cotter's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Cotter is trying to stand.

Cotter is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Delaney is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Cotter is defending against the submission attempts here by Delaney.
Delaney is stalling here. Cotter is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Delaney seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Cotter has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Delaney is not content to let Cotter control the position. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Cotter working the head and body with strikes. Cotter landing strikes. Delaney tries to get back to half guard but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Cotter gets to mount! Delaney was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly. Cotter landing strikes, looking to finish! Cotter tries to control but Delaney wriggling away. Cotter is really struggling to control Delaney but he's trying to hold on to the position. Delaney keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Cotter content just to control the position here. Cotter fails to move to back control. Cotter throws some wild stikes that Delaney manages to avoid easily.

And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jason Delaney. Well Delaney has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
