Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksander Ivanov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Murs Kaus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ivanov comes to the cage accompanied by Step Into A World (Rapture's Delight). Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Murs Kaus! The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kaus darts in and clinches Ivanov up against the cage. Ivanov tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Kaus seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Ivanov works his way to full guard. Good work. Kaus looking to sit in guard and control but Ivanov gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Ivanov wants to control from the top but Kaus keeps moving.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kaus wants to get back to his feet but Ivanov is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Ivanov trying to control the position from guard on top but Kaus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kaus wants to stand and escape but Ivanov is having none of it. Kaus looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ivanov is one step ahead there. Ivanov pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kaus is keeping the position for now. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Ivanov trying to control but Kaus is working from the bottom. Kaus has his hands on Ivanov's head, controlling the position.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Ivanov shoots in looking for a takedown. Kaus tries to sprawl out of it but Ivanov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kaus manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Murs Kaus is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ivanov scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Horrible takedown by Ivanov or perhaps it was just good defense by Kaus which made him look bad. Kaus fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Kaus looks gassed! Kaus is looking to clinch. Ivanov drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Ivanov drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Ivanov jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Ivanov wants to control from the top but Kaus keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

It looks like Murs Kaus has been cut. Murs Kaus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Ivanov scores with a jab to the head.

Kaus fails in his attempt to clinch. Ivanov throws the left hand but Kaus avoids the punch easily. Ivanov circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ivanov connects with a good right hand that stumbles Kaus. Kaus circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Ivanov connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Kaus's hands. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Kaus fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ivanov scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Kaus is not content to let Ivanov control the position. Ivanov is trying to get an arm triangle but Kaus is defending well. Ivanov tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ivanov has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Kaus is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ivanov tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Kaus is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Kaus is looking for a sweep. Ivanov tries to advance to mount but can't.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Ivanov thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kaus is trying to get back to half guard. Ivanov is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kaus has escaped the position, nice work there. Ivanov is trying to get an arm triangle but Kaus is defending well. Kaus struggling a bit here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kaus is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Kaus tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. Ivanov with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Ivanov moves to the back. A lull in the action here.
Kaus is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Ivanov off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Kaus is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Ivanov gets his way!
Kaus tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell! Kaus wants to control but Ivanov is having none of it. Ivanov throws some wild stikes that Kaus manages to avoid easily.
Ivanov is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Kaus has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Ivanov lands with some strikes. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivanov shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kaus napping and manages to drive through into side control! Ivanov is trying to get an arm triangle but Kaus is defending well. Ivanov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kaus keeps working. Kaus takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Ivanov slows the pace down. Ivanov wants to control but Kaus is keeping him busy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kaus is trying to buck Ivanov off. Ivanov is looking to take a break and control but Kaus is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Ivanov is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kaus is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Kaus is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Ivanov wants to control but Kaus is keeping him busy. Ivanov wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kaus, who protects the arm well. Ivanov tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Ivanov wants to control but Kaus is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kaus is looking to regain half guard here but Ivanov keeps moving and retains side control. Ivanov wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kaus keeps working. Kaus regains half guard. Aleksander Ivanov is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Kaus tries to roll over but Ivanov keeps him under control. Ivanov seems to be looking for submissions.
Ivanov is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kaus defends it well. Murs Kaus has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Aleksander Ivanov overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Ivanov is working for a kimura but Kaus is defending it quite comfortably.
Kaus tries to get to full guard but Ivanov has control of the leg. Kaus is in trouble now - Ivanov has advanced to mount! Ivanov controlling the position easily from mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Aleksander Ivanov showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ivanov, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
