Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Marco Ruas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and TJ Beckerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ruas comes into the arena with Megadeth - Symphony of Destruction blaring out of the sound system. Beckerman comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Era - Enae Volare Mezzo kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! TJ Beckerman has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Marco Ruas's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marco Ruas! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, TJ Beckerman! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beckerman instigates a clinch. Beckerman with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Beckerman keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Ruas's efforts to push away. Beckerman misses with an elbow strike.
Beckerman is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Beckerman scores with a knee to the head.
It looks like Marco Ruas has been cut. Ruas's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. A good leg kick by Ruas. Ruas slips a jab and a cross from Beckerman.
Beckerman misses with a body kick. Beckerman slips under a jab from Ruas. Beckerman misses with a two punch combination.
Beckerman takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Beckerman misses with a looping left. Beckerman swinging wildly here.
Ruas is looking to score with low kicks. Ruas uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Beckerman. Ruas throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Beckerman tries a head kick but it misses.
Ruas wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Beckerman misses with a wild combination.
Beckerman throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Ruas throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Ruas ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Beckerman drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. A bone on bone clash there as Beckerman blocks the leg kick.
TJ Beckerman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beckerman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ruas to the mat! Ruas manages to get full guard. Beckerman looks gassed! Ruas working a defensive guard here.
Ruas will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Beckerman drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ruas looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ruas looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ruas! Ruas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Beckerman, who protects the arm well. Ruas misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ruas postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Ruas misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Ruas is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Beckerman has escaped the position, nice work there. Beckerman tries to improve position but can't. Beckerman is pushing Ruas's head away, looking to escape. Ruas manages to hold on to the position though. You can see the frustration on Beckerman's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Ruas working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. Ruas tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Ruas misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruas has hold of Beckerman's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Beckerman tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Ruas cranks the arm and Beckerman screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Beckerman, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Marco Ruas!
