Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, hurrican carter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Antonio Silva! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Emerson Jorge and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! carter throws a body kick that misses. Silva looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! carter shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silva but Silva pushes him off and we're back to square one. carter moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off. Silva clinches up against the cage. carter decides to pull guard. Silva looking to control the position here, rather than advance. carter wants to stand and escape but Silva is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Silva controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Silva prevents carter from getting back to his feet. Silva controlling from the top position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. carter scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Silva circles away from the clinch attempt and Silva counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. carter shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Silva counters with a takedown into side control. carter is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Silva asserts his dominance and retains side control. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. carter pushes Silva away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Silva gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Silva landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. carter is pushing Silva's head away, looking to escape. Silva manages to hold on to the position though. carter is looking to get back to his feet here but Silva is keeping cool and he's managed to take carter's back. carter is trying to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Silva has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for carter! Can he survive? No! He's out! Silva gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
