Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sergei Patrushev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Van Wissil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Van Wissil!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Viktor Lagutenko and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patrushev dives in and grabs Van Wissil's left leg, looking for a takedown. Van Wissil pushes down on Patrushev's head and hops out.

Van Wissil drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Patrushev wants to stand but Van Wissil is controlling the position.

Patrushev escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Van Wissil gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Van Wissil won't allow Patrushev to get back to his feet.
Van Wissil really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Patrushev. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Patrushev is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Van Wissil defends well.

Patrushev working for a triangle but Van Wissil defends it easily.
Van Wissil must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Van Wissil seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Patrushev is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Van Wissil pulls his head out easily.

Patrushev tries to kick Van Wissil off but Van Wissil keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Van Wissil won't let Patrushev get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Patrushev tries to lock up and control but Van Wissil gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Patrushev is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Van Wissil shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Patrushev is trying to defend but Van Wissil finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Mike Van Wissil showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Patrushev might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Patrushev is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Van Wissil is controlling him well.
Patrushev trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Patrushev is looking to regain half guard here but Van Wissil keeps moving and retains side control.

Patrushev tries to sprawl but Van Wissil drives through with a takedown into half guard.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Van Wissil stands up from mount. Strange move.

Van Wissil closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Patrushev to the mat! Patrushev manages to get full guard.
Patrushev wants to stand and escape but Van Wissil is having none of it.

Van Wissil got a little sloppy there for a moment and Patrushev has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Van Wissil has managed to get both his arms back between Patrushev's legs - danger averted.
Van Wissil wants to stand but Patrushev is controlling his posture from full guard.

Van Wissil stops Patrushev from standing up.

Van Wissil decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Patrushev, up you get!

and Van Wissil counters with a single leg into guard. Patrushev didn't expect that.

Van Wissil stands up from Patrushev's guard - Van Wissil perhaps looking for a knockout.

Van Wissil shoots in and bounces Patrushev off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Patrushev is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Patrushev wants to stand and escape but Van Wissil is having none of it.

Mike Van Wissil comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Van Wissil has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
