McCarthy is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Buried Alive. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McCarthy displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Gaprere.
McCarthy shoots in for a takedown but Gaprere shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

and Gaprere holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

McCarthy is fighting to break Gaprere's control of his arms but Gaprere is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

McCarthy stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Gaprere swivels though and keeps the full guard.
McCarthy won't allow Gaprere to sweep him here.

Gaprere uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Gaprere tries to clinch but McCarthy moves out of range.

Gaprere closes the distance and clinches.
Gaprere has McCarthy pressed against the cage, preventing McCarthy from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

and Gaprere counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

McCarthy has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Gaprere is working away from the top position though.
Gaprere prevents McCarthy from improving his position.
McCarthy keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Gaprere works his foot free and advances to mount.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gaprere forces the positional change into back control.
Gaprere is riding his opponent, not letting McCarthy buck him off.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Gaprere.

Gaprere tries a head kick but it misses.
McCarthy connects with a crisp jab.
Gaprere closes the distance and clinches up with McCarthy, looking for a takedown. Gaprere pushes McCarthy against the cage but McCarthy circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. McCarthy lands a nice short elbow.

Gaprere is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because McCarthy is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Gaprere scrambles and gets back to his feet.

Gaprere shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. McCarthy manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

McCarthy will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Gaprere looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks McCarthy with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

McCarthy is trying to control Gaprere's posture. Gaprere takes advantage of the lull and advances to side control. He also appears to have an arm triangle here! Uh oh, big trouble for McCarthy! Gaprere is rotating here... this could be the end... McCarthy is out! Gaprere has ended this one emphatically! Great submission!
