Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Phil Bailey! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kieran Dawson! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bailey lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Dawson circles away quickly and effectively. Dawson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Dawson successfully pulls guard.
Bailey postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dawson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Bailey, into his guard. Dawson wants to stand but Bailey has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Dawson slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Dawson trying to control the action but Bailey is working from the bottom. Dawson cracks Bailey with an elbow. That is naaassty.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dawson lands a few punches from side control. Dawson trying to control the position but Bailey is working away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Bailey manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Bailey wants to get back to full guard. Bailey is refusing to be controlled, as Dawson sits in half guard. Dawson not doing much here.
Bailey gets full guard. Dawson trying to control the position from guard on top but Bailey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Dawson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bailey is proving hard to escape from.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dawson trying to control but Bailey is working from the bottom.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Kieran Dawson hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. A punch combination from Bailey misses. Dawson misses with a low kick as Bailey jumps back. Dawson drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Dawson trying to control the position from guard on top but Bailey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bailey is breathing heavily. Dawson is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Dawson throws and elbow that misses. Bailey uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Dawson's guard. Nice move by Bailey! Bailey decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Dawson, up you get!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dawson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Dawson not doing much here.
Dawson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Bailey with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Dawson lands strikes from half guard. Bailey is refusing to be controlled, as Dawson sits in half guard. Dawson thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Bailey's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dawson sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Bailey defending well though. Dawson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Bailey has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dawson is working away from the top position though. Bailey pushes Dawson off looking to stand but Dawson dives back in and keeps control.
Dawson wants to control but Bailey is keeping him busy. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Bailey strikes from the bottom but Dawson passes into mount!
Dawson is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Bailey can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Dawson with the ground and pound from mount. Dawson tries to control but Bailey wriggling away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kieran Dawson dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Dawson tries for a takedown but Bailey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Dawson throws a combination. Bailey tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Bailey keeps the fight on the outside. Dawson wants to clinch up but Bailey keeps it at a distance. Phil Bailey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Dawson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bailey circles away quickly and effectively. No joy there for Bailey, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Dawson throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Bailey moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Bailey moves in looking to clinch but Dawson pushes him off. Bailey closes the distance and pushes Dawson back into the cage. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Dawson prevents the takedown attempt.

Dawson wants to clinch but Bailey slips to the side and Bailey decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Dawson's guard.

Dawson is looking for a triangle here but Bailey uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Dawson can do anything to dispel that myth. You can see the frustration on Dawson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Bailey stands up and beckons Dawson to his feet. Dawson looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Bailey keeping full guard, as Dawson tries to pass.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Bailey is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dawson is aware though and is defending well. Dawson trying to control the position from guard on top but Bailey is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Bailey looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dawson is one step ahead there. Dawson wants to control from the top but Bailey keeps moving. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kieran Dawson wasn't active enough on the ground. Dawson misses with a leg kick and Bailey counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Bailey.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dawson lands a nice shot to the body. Bailey fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Bailey prevents a takedown attempt there.
Bailey's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Dawson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Bailey tries to clinch up and Dawson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bailey's guard now. Dawson preventing the sweep. Dawson wants to pass the guard but Bailey is keeping the position. Dawson distracts Bailey with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Dawson trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Dawson is looking to advance position but Bailey has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dawson tries to control the position but Bailey now has his back.

Dawson rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Bailey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dawson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Bailey is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Bailey trying to control from half guard but Dawson is working away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Kieran Dawson will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
No luck for Dawson with that takedown attempt. Bailey misses with a double jab
and Dawson counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work. Dawson works over Bailey's head and body with a nice combination. Bailey throws a nice looking combination but Dawson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Dawson blocks a head kick by Bailey.
Bailey tries to close the distance and clinch but Dawson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Dawson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat. Dawson wants to control from the top but Bailey keeps moving. Dawson looking to sit in guard and control but Bailey gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Dawson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bailey wants to control but Dawson is having none of it. Dawson is landing with some decent strikes but Bailey is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Dawson has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Bailey's face.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Dawson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Dawson content just to control the position here. Bailey is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Dawson punishing his opponent with strikes. Bailey really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Bailey is working hard here to advance position. Dawson controlling his opponent. Dawson working for a submission but Bailey is keeping him at bay. Dawson lands with some strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Bailey tries to get back to half guard but can't. Dawson trying to control but he's not successful this time. A nice elbow there by Dawson. Dawson landing punches. Dawson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bailey can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Dawson lands a heavy elbow. Bailey is trying to escape the mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Dawson with shots to the head and body - Bailey looks very uncomfortable down there. Dawson takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Dawson wants to control the pace but Bailey is squirming around nicely. Dawson prevents Bailey from getting the reversal. Dawson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bailey is surviving well by controlling Dawson's body position as best he can. Bailey really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
And that's the end of the fight! Kieran Dawson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Dawson winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
