Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eugen Kvaternik! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dustin Miller! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Donatello Bradman and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kvaternik tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Miller swats away the attempt to clinch by Kvaternik. Miller lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Kvaternik backs up against the cage.
It looks like Eugen Kvaternik has been cut. Miller throws a nice looking combination but Kvaternik bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Miller shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kvaternik's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Miller throwing strikes from guard but Kvaternik blocks nicely. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Miller's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Miller loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Kvaternik keeping moving, preventing Miller from controlling successfully. Kvaternik looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Miller drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Miller jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Miller landing some decent shots from guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller throwing strikes but missing. Kvaternik is breathing heavily. Miller is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Miller lands a couple of decent looking shots. Miller trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Miller working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Kvaternik avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Miller throwing strikes but missing. Miller drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Miller jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Miller advances to half guard. Miller works his way into full mount! Miller has control of Kvaternik's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kvaternik regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Eugen Kvaternik's cut is getting worse. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
