Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Han Solo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sam Wood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Wood's choice of entrance music: Enae Volare Mezzo. Both fighters look pumped up here. Let's hope this is a good fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Han Solo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Sam Wood! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Donatello Bradman and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wood feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Solo looking to hit a scissor sweep but Wood is one step ahead there. Wood works a leg free and moves into half guard. Wood scoring with strikes to the body and head. Wood thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Solo makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Solo. Wood in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Wood postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Wood won't allow Solo to sweep him here. Wood trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wood working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Wood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Solo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Wood is looking to work some ground and pound but Solo has wrist control. Wood landing some decent shots from guard. Wood throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Solo works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Wood in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Solo is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Solo looking to pass the guard. Solo trying to control but Wood is working from the bottom. Solo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Solo is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Solo landing some decent shots from guard. Wood looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Solo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. Wood is looking to get back to full guard here but Solo has managed to pass to side control instead. Solo trying to control but he's not successful this time. Wood regains half guard. Solo wants to control but Wood is keeping him busy. Wood wants to improve his position but Solo is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Solo slows the pace down in half guard. Solo is looking to take a break and control but Wood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Wood is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Wood fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Solo has his takedown stuffed and Wood counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Solo! Wood lands a big elbow. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Wood scores with a couple of good head shots there.

Solo is rocked! Wood with good strikes from the mount here! Oh Solo is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
It looks like Han Solo has been cut. Wood wants to stand but Solo is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Solo seems to have got his legs back now. Solo wants to control but Wood is having none of it. Solo slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Solo's head. Wood moves into full mount! Solo won't be happy about that! Solo is working to get back to half guard.
Wood lands a nice shot to the head. Solo bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

Wood slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Wood can do anything to dispel that myth. Wood wants to sweep but no luck. Wood has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Solo has passed into side control.
Wood is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Solo's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Wood tries to roll over but Solo keeps him under control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Wood misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Wood is defending against the submission attempts here by Solo.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Solo is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Wood is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Sam Wood dominated that round. The cut man is working on Han Solo's cut. That's time! Solo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Wood feints and as Solo raises his hands in defense, Wood changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Solo is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Solo is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Wood is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Wood makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Wood lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Wood stopping the sweep attempt from Solo. Wood tries to free his leg and advance position but Solo is retaining full guard. Solo preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Wood distracts Solo with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Wood trying to move into half guard but instead Solo has managed to sweep! Wood wants to sweep but no luck. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Solo misses with a head kick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wood scores a takedown into full mount! Wood with shots to the head and body - Solo looks very uncomfortable down there. Solo regains half guard. Solo gets back to full guard.

Wood must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Wood trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wood accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Wood trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Solo avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Solo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
This has been an exciting period of action! Solo has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wood can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Solo seems keen to control Wood's posture. Wood stopping the sweep attempt from Solo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wood with a nice head shot there. Wood with a flurry of punches that miss. Solo utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Wood throwing strikes but missing. Wood loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Wood chips away with some ground and pound. Wood stands up over Solo, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Wood stands and throws Solo's legs to the side, diving into side control. Wood scoring with punches and elbows. Solo takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Han Solo's cut is getting worse. Wood connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Solo some visible discomfort.
Solo gets back to half guard. Solo controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Wood lands with a punch from half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Solo gets back to full guard.
Wood postures up in Solo's guard and throws a big left but Solo blocks it. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Solo is on top in guard.

Solo controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Solo preventing the sweep. Solo drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Solo as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Wood screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Solo! Nice submission victory there!
