Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Cormac Whelan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Armando Salazar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Whelan comes to the cage accompanied by Bonny Portmore. Salazar has chosen Blue Flowers as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Cormac Whelan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Armando Salazar! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Glass and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good leg kick by Salazar there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Salazar moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Salazar moves away from the strike by Whelan. Whelan wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Whelan has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Whelan there as he acknowledges the shot. Salazar throws a nice outside leg kick. Whelan fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Salazar manages to avoid it. Salazar thumps Whelan with a low kick. A telegraphed right hand from Whelan misses the target. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Whelan, as that shot connected.
A solid leg kick lands there for Salazar.
Whelan on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Salazar. Salazar obviously looking to wear him down.
A shot to the liver by Whelan. Beautiful body shot. This has been an exciting period of action! Whelan throws a lazy right hand but Salazar sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Salazar looks to land a left hand but Whelan moved out of range nicely. Salazar throws a jab but it's blocked by Whelan. Whelan loads up on a big right hand but Salazar slips the punch. Whelan misses with a straight right. Salazar throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Whelan throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Salazar sees it coming and avoids it easily. Whelan chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Salazar can pounce on him.
Whelan loads up on a big right hand but Salazar slips the punch. Salazar keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Salazar fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Whelan sprawls well initially but Salazar persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Salazar tries to pass the half guard into mount. Whelan knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Salazar misses with a head shot. Whelan uses the momentum to regain guard. Salazar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Whelan is keeping the position for now. Whelan preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Salazar drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Whelan manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Salazar has Whelan in his guard. Salazar is trying to keep Whelan in close.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whelan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Salazar looking to sweep here. No luck so far. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Salazar is on top in guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Salazar is fighting to break Whelan's control of his arms but Whelan is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment. Salazar postures up in Whelan's guard and throws a big left but Whelan blocks it. Salazar trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Whelan manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Whelan seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Salazar tries to land a sweep but no joy.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Whelan wants to control from the top but Salazar keeps moving. Salazar wants to sweep here but Whelan controlling him for the moment. Salazar is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
We're going to have a standup here because Cormac Whelan wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Whelan slips a jab from Salazar. Salazar displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Whelan throws out the jab. Salazar swings for the body but Whelan moves out of range.
Whelan jabs Salazar right on the nose. Salazar blinks but takes it well. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Salazar displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Whelan throws out the jab. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Armando Salazar will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Salazar takes a swing at Whelan's ribcage but misses. A nice combination there by Whelan.
Whelan lands with a nice combination. Salazar backs away looking to recover. Whelan scores with a jab to the body. Salazar swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Salazar changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Whelan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Whelan struggling a bit here. Salazar swings around for an armbar but Whelan sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Salazar's guard. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Salazar wants to sweep but no luck. Salazar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Whelan defends it easily. Salazar has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Whelan doesn't defend quickly enough and Salazar has managed to lock this one up! Can Whelan escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Salazar on a fantastic submission victory.
