PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Joe Mockalatz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Mark (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mike Mark struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 206.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Mockalatz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mike Mark!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mark shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mockalatz as he jumps to the side.
Joe Mockalatz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mark looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mockalatz is fending him off so far but Mark persists. Nope, Mockalatz circles away and we're back to standing.
Mark chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mockalatz can pounce on him.
Mockalatz plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!

Mark gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Mockalatz looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Mockalatz's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Mark is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Mockalatz decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Mark on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Mockalatz. Mockalatz obviously looking to wear him down.
Mockalatz fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Mark looks gassed!
Mark takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mark enables Mockalatz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mark manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Mockalatz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mark's guard.
Mockalatz is pressing down on Mark's thigh, looking to free his foot. Mark is holding on for now.

Mockalatz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Mockalatz seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

We're going to have a standup here because Joe Mockalatz wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Mockalatz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mockalatz has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Mockalatz lands a nice short elbow.

We're going to have a standup here because Joe Mockalatz wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Mockalatz throws a sloppy head kick and Mark moves out of range easily.

Mockalatz shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mockalatz was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Mockalatz dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Mockalatz connects with a nice looking jab.
Mockalatz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Whack! Mockalatz lands a heavy head kick that drops Mark. The ref tackles Mockalatz to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Mark was done.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Joe Mockalatz!
