PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dog Hercules (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Banner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banner fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Banner has a takedown stuffed.
Hercules looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Banner is fending him off so far but Hercules persists. Nope, Banner circles away and we're back to standing.
Banner will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Hercules shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Banner manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hercules seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Banner really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hercules. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hercules won't allow Banner to get back to his feet.

Banner looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hercules passes into side control.
Banner is looking to regain half guard here but Hercules keeps moving and retains side control.

Banner is letting Hercules control him for a moment.

Hercules tries for a kimura but Banner is defending well.
Banner can't do much from the bottom here.
Hercules remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Hercules's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Banner is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Hercules misses with the ground and pound.
Hercules scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Banner to see if he's OK.
Hercules has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Hercules controlling his opponent.

Banner can't escape the position.

Banner is desperately trying to improve his position but Hercules has a good base and remains in mount.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Hercules controlling the position easily from mount.
Hercules cracks Banner with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

It looks like Robert Banner has been cut.
Hercules prevents Banner from getting the reversal.

Banner keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hercules sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

That's time! Hercules's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Banner fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hercules manages to avoid it.

Hercules looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Hercules is trying to control. Banner wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Banner won't allow Hercules to pass to mount.
Hercules is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Banner!
Banner is looking to improve his position but Hercules isn't that keen on the idea.
Hercules takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hercules can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Banner is looking to escape.

Hercules tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hercules thowing shots but they're missing.
Hercules lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

That has opened up Robert Banner's cut even more.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Banner's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
The referee warns Banner that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Robert Banner's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Robert Banner's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
