Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kye Lawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Koji Hisaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kye Lawson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Koji Hisaki!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Lawson shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hisaki manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Lawson trying to control the position from guard on top but Hisaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Lawson postures up in Hisaki's guard and throws a big left but Hisaki blocks it.

Lawson stands up from Hisaki's guard - Lawson perhaps looking for a knockout.
Lawson shoots in and drives through. Hisaki sprawls well.
Horrible takedown by Lawson or perhaps it was just good defense by Hisaki which made him look bad.

Lawson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hisaki, pushing him back against the cage.

Lawson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Hisaki walks away with a smile on his face. Lawson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kye Lawson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lawson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Hisaki clinches up against the cage.

Lawson turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Hisaki striking from the bottom but nothing landed.

Hisaki manages to get back to half guard.
Lawson is looking to advance position but Hisaki won't allow it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hisaki tries to roll over but Lawson keeps him under control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hisaki is not content to let Lawson control the position.

Lawson stands up out of the half guard.

Hisaki shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Hisaki was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Lawson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hisaki on the ground.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Lawson is working to get back to half guard.
Lawson is breathing heavily.
Lawson tries to lock up and control but Hisaki gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hisaki looking to control but Lawson is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Hisaki lands a big shot there that rocks Lawson but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Lawson wants to hold on but Hisaki pushes him away.
Hisaki seems to be looking to move to his opponent's back but Lawson is holding on tight.

Hisaki is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Lawson has managed to escape the submission attempt.
Lawson is desperately trying to improve his position but Hisaki has a good base and remains in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Koji Hisaki will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Lawson misses with a takedown attempt

and Hisaki counters with a nice double leg into side control. Lawson won't be happy with that.
Kye Lawson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Lawson tries to bench press Hisaki off him but Hisaki keeps the position.
Hisaki is looking to take a break and control but Lawson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hisaki lands some shots froms side control.
A control attempt from Lawson but he's now mounted!
Lawson tries to hold on but Hisaki postures up.
Koji Hisaki has got the better of the ground game so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Hisaki tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Hisaki moves nicely into side control.

Hisaki looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Lawson tries to clinch

and Hisaki counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Lawson is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Hisaki tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Lawson just stands there and leans against the cage.

Hisaki jumps into guard, dragging Lawson to the mat.
Lawson trying to control the position from guard on top but Hisaki is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Lawson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hisaki wants to stand and escape but Lawson is having none of it.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hisaki is on top in guard.

Hisaki would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Hisaki slips nicely into half guard.
Hisaki is trying to control. Lawson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Hisaki prevents Lawson from improving his position.
Lawson is refusing to be controlled, as Hisaki sits in half guard.
Hisaki looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Lawson tries to roll over but Hisaki keeps him under control.
Hisaki stalling.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Koji Hisaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Lawson with a lazy takedown attempt

and Hisaki counters with a single leg into guard. Lawson didn't expect that.

Hisaki stands and steps away. Lawson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Lawson stuffs the takedown.

Lawson feints and as Hisaki raises his hands in defense, Lawson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Lawson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Lawson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Hisaki pulls Lawson in to control the position.
Lawson is looking to work some ground and pound but Hisaki has wrist control.

Hisaki lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lawson!

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Hisaki avoids the attempt from Lawson to control.
Lawson is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Lawson keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Hisaki trying to control but Lawson is having none of it.

Hisaki has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Lawson's face.
BOOM! Hisaki connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Hisaki tries to control but Lawson wriggling away.
Hisaki lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Hisaki controlling his opponent.
Lawson is trying to escape the mount.

Lawson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Hisaki controlling the pace for now.

And that's the end of the fight!
Koji Hisaki comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hisaki has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
