The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cortero closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Cortero lands in his opponent's guard. Cortero stays in close to Synder's body and controls the position. Synder working for a triangle but Cortero defends it easily.
Synder keeping full guard, as Cortero tries to pass. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cortero looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Cortero's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. The ref stands the fighters back up because Hestez Cortero just wasn't active enough. Synder doesn't succeed with the takedown and Cortero counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Cortero controlling the action here. Cortero is thwarting Synder's attempts to control the position. Synder is controlling Cortero's position as best he can from this difficult position. Synder is breathing heavily. Cortero content to control rather than advance. Synder is in trouble now - Cortero has advanced to mount! Cortero controlling the pace for now.

Cortero shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Synder manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Cortero slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Synder controls Cortero momentarily but Cortero frees himself. Cortero controls from within his opponent's guard. Synder has his hands on Cortero's head, controlling the position.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Synder fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Synder takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hestez Cortero is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Cortero seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Synder for as long as he can get away with.
And that's the end of the fight! Hestez Cortero showed his dominance in that final round. Well Cortero has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
