Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyaji Madoka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Madoka has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Kyaji Madoka has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Madoka gets caught flat footed, as Smith shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Smith is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Smith is looking to stand up but Madoka won't let him.

OK we're going to have a standup here. James Smith hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Madoka escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Smith lands a couple of elbows.
Madoka looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Smith drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Smith jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Smith trying to control but Madoka is working from the bottom.

Smith stands and throws Madoka's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Smith tries to advance to mount but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Madoka is looking for a sweep.
Madoka prevents Smith from improving position.
Smith lands a nice forearm strike.

Smith decides to stand back up.

Smith shoots in and gets a takedown into Madoka's guard.

Smith loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Madoka goes for a takedown attempt but Smith pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Smith turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Smith throws a series of punches but Madoka moves out of range.

Smith closes the distance and clinches.

Smith has Madoka pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Smith pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Madoka tumbling to the mat - Smith dives into Madoka's guard.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Smith thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Smith with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Smith wants to control from the top but Madoka keeps moving.
Smith advances position into side control!

Madoka is looking to reverse the position.
Smith wants to control but Madoka is keeping him busy.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Madoka can't do much from the bottom here.
Madoka is trying to improve his position.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Smith trying to control the action but Madoka is working from the bottom.
Smith is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
You can see the frustration on Madoka's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
