Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Johnnie Walker! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Max Powers! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Edson Gomes and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Powers slips a jab from Walker. Walker connects with a right hand. Powers shakes it off.
It looks like Max Powers has been cut. Walker has Powers up against the cage in a clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. Walker is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Walker has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Powers keeps control of Walker as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Walker has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Powers uses from the top position. Walker lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Powers! Walker has hold of Powers's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Powers manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Powers wants to hold on but Walker pushes him away. Powers has given up his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Walker avoiding Powers 's attempts to control his hands. Walker is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Powers defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Powers is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Walker gets his way!
That's one minute gone in the round. Powers controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position. Walker looking to break Powers's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Powers remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Walker will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke! Powers is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Powers wants to control his opponent's hands but Walker gets his hands free. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Walker is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Powers is tapping out! This one is all over!
