Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Woods (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Smith is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Woods!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Smith!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Woods looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Smith ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Woods moves out of range as Smith strikes.
Smith finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Woods has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Smith finds it's way round the side to connect with Woods's head.
Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body.

Smith misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Woods uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.
Smith moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Woods is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Smith's half guard.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Woods lands a nice short elbow.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Smith wants to get back to full guard but Woods has passed into side control.

Smith sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Smith slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Woods stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Smith is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Smith utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Woods takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Woods keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Smith.
Smith throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.

Woods shoots in looking for a takedown but Smith manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Woods's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Woods takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Woods takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
John Smith seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from Smith. Woods does a little dance to reset his feet.
Smith works the jab nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Woods in particular looking to stall.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
No luck for Woods with that takedown attempt.
Smith is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Woods rather than just go for the knockout.

Smith uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Woods has time to react.

Horrible takedown by Woods or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith which made him look bad.

Smith feints and then cracks Woods's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Woods down.

Smith fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Woods has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Smith lands with a nice body punch.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Smith cracks Woods with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Woods tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Smith pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Woods is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Smith!
