Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, chuck Monster!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, brandon vera!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Steven Brown and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
vera keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Monster rushes vera and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Monster fails to pull guard.
A nice glancing elbow lands by vera.
Monster gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
vera pushes Monster off but Monster dives into side control.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if vera can do anything to dispel that myth.
Monster takes advantage of some sloppy striking from vera to pass into mount.
vera throwing hammer fists to the chest of Monster. What's that going to do exactly?
vera is trying to stand.
vera can't escape the position.
vera looks gassed!
Monster pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
vera swinging wildly from the bottom but he's not landing.
BOOM! Monster connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
vera can't escape the position.
vera should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
That's one minute gone in the round.
vera is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Monster lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Monster lands with some strikes.
vera is trying desperately to improve position.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Monster working away from the top, dropping strikes.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Monster has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of vera's face.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Monster cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Monster is in the full mount, landing strikes.
vera tries to improve his position but Monster has taken his back! Monster has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will vera tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Monster pushes vera away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:51 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). chuck Monster!
