Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mario Benetiz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Laursen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mario Benetiz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Laursen! The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Laursen slips a jab and a cross from Benetiz.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Benetiz. Benetiz waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Laursen. Laursen looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Benetiz! Laursen is landing with some decent strikes but Benetiz is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Laursen throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. Benetiz tries to hold on but Laursen pushes him away. Benetiz is squirming around, avoiding Laursen's attempts to control the action. Laursen lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Benetiz hang on? Benetiz is working to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Benetiz regains half guard. Benetiz keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Laursen is trying to control. Benetiz wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Laursen is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Benetiz flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Laursen trying to pass the guard but Benetiz defending well. Benetiz slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Laursen works over Benetiz with some ground and pound from guard. Benetiz will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Laursen trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Benetiz manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Benetiz is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Laursen is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Benetiz is controlling him.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Benetiz throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Benetiz wants to control from the top but Laursen keeps moving. Benetiz wants to get up but he can't break Laursen's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Benetiz forces his way into half guard. Benetiz is working for a kimura but Laursen is defending it quite comfortably.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Laursen tries to get to full guard but Benetiz has control of the leg. Benetiz gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Laursen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Laursen pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Benetiz is keeping the position for now. Laursen throws and elbow that misses. Benetiz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Laursen's guard. Nice move by Benetiz! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Laursen swats away the attempt to clinch by Benetiz. Benetiz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Laursen avoids it really well and circles away. Laursen misses with a combination
and Benetiz counters with a slapping leg kick. Laursen drives through with a takedown into guard. Benetiz not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Laursen won't allow Benetiz to get back to his feet. Laursen throws a strike but Benetiz rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Laursen should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Laursen working a defensive guard but Benetiz passes into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Laursen wants to control but Benetiz is keeping busy and won't allow it. Laursen won't allow Benetiz to pass to mount. Benetiz is looking to take a break and control but Laursen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Benetiz is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Laursen trying to control here.
The ref stands the fighters back up. James Laursen was stalling too much, according to the referee. A slow jab from Benetiz misses its intended target. Mario Benetiz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Benetiz throws a body punch but Laursen moves out of range. Laursen blocks a head kick by Benetiz.
Laursen will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A punch combination from Benetiz misses. Laursen shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Laursen was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Laursen with a couple of short strikes. Benetiz is bucking up trying to escape but Laursen cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Laursen punching from mount but Benetiz doing a good job of avoiding damage. The referee warns Benetiz that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Benetiz has worked his way to half guard, taking advantage of Laursen's lack of action.
Laursen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Benetiz keeps working. Laursen with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Benetiz manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Laursen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Benetiz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Laursen missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Laursen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Benetiz is proving hard to escape from. Laursen is stalling in the full guard. Laursen looking to sit in guard and control but Benetiz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Benetiz looking to pass the guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
James Laursen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Laursen slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Laursen wants to control from the top but Benetiz keeps moving. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Laursen throws and elbow that misses. Benetiz uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Laursen's guard. Nice move by Benetiz! Benetiz missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Laursen wants to get back to his feet but Benetiz is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Laursen utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Laursen is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. James Laursen has got the better of the ground game so far. Benetiz trying to control the position from guard on top but Laursen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Laursen is looking to stand up but Benetiz isn't so interested in that idea. Laursen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Laursen wants to control the position but Benetiz says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard. Benetiz lands strikes from half guard. Laursen is looking to control Benetiz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Laursen avoid being mounted?
