Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shinya Aoki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryu Hayabusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aoki comes to the cage accompanied by come as you are. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinya Aoki! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ryu Hayabusa! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Yukihiro Shimada and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hayabusa tries to clinch but Aoki moves out of range. Hayabusa gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Hayabusa trying to land knees to the body.

It looks like Shinya Aoki has been cut. Aoki breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
No luck for Aoki with that takedown attempt. A head kick misses from Hayabusa. Aoki shoots in and drives through. Hayabusa sprawls well. Horrible takedown by Aoki or perhaps it was just good defense by Hayabusa which made him look bad. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shinya Aoki. That's going to take a lot out of him. Aoki will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Aoki takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. and Hayabusa counters with a right hand to the body. Hayabusa shoots in and bounces Aoki off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hayabusa decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aoki closes the distance but Hayabusa moves to the side and Hayabusa moves into the clinch. Aoki breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Aoki misses with a double jab.

Aoki doesn't succeed with the takedown and Hayabusa counters with a head kick. That will keep Aoki thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Aoki. Hayabusa lands with a kick to the temple. Aoki shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Hayabusa gets the takedown into side control. Aoki manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Hayabusa is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Aoki. Hayabusa decides to take the fight back to the feet. Hayabusa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Aoki swats him away and circles back towards the center. Hayabusa circles away from the clinch attempt and Hayabusa counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Aoki closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Aoki lands in his opponent's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Aoki stands and throws Hayabusa's legs to the side, diving into side control. Hayabusa tries to contro but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Aoki looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead. Aoki fails to move to back control. Aoki is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Hayabusa has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Hayabusa! Hayabusa must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Hayabusa wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aoki keeps working.

But no, Aoki has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Hayabusa but great work by Aoki.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Hayabusa tries to improve position but can't.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Aoki misses with a jab to the body
and Hayabusa counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hayabusa plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Hayabusa clinches with his opponent.

Hayabusa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Aoki keeps the fight on the outside. Aoki tries to clinch and Hayabusa counters with a lovely shot to the body. A head kick by Aoki misses and Hayabusa counters with a takedown into side control. Hayabusa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aoki. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Aoki can't do much from the bottom here. Aoki is looking for a sweep. Aoki manages to get back to half guard.

Aoki is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a tringle but Hayabusa frees his head nicely. Oh but Aoki has switched to an armbar! Hayabusa is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
