The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Overeem misses with a jab, cross combination.
Overeem throws a head kick that misses.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Overeem, right into the meat.
Overeem moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

and McGuire decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Overeem's guard.

McGuire has gone for a leg lock! Overeem slips out almost immediately though and dives into McGuire's guard.

McGuire has his foot on Overeem's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Overeem works his way back into a safe position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
McGuire is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Overeem stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. McGuire swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Daan Overeem just wasn't active enough.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Brian McGuire hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Overeem pushes McGuire away with a front kick.

Daan Overeem is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Overeem feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to McGuire's calf.
McGuire misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Overeem.

and McGuire counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McGuire shoots in looking for a takedown but Overeem manages to keep the fight standing, pushing McGuire's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Brian McGuire showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

McGuire takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Overeem counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. McGuire is lucky that one didn't land flush.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Daan Overeem.
I think McGuire has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
