Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Sherpard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paul Fisher (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sherpard's entrance music is Locust. A fine choice. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Sherpard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paul Fisher!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice sprawl there from Sherpard as Fisher shoots in.
Paul Fisher seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fisher fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fisher tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sherpard swivels and escapes.
Rick Sherpard has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Paul Fisher.
Sherpard throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Fisher fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Sherpard, pushing him back against the cage.

Sherpard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Fisher finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A head kick from Sherpard lands but Fisher takes it in his stride.


Fisher is rocked!
Fisher tries to close the distance and clinch up but Sherpard swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Sherpard moves into range and clinches up with Fisher.
Sherpard drops down looking for an ankle pick but Fisher pulls his leg out and moves away.
Sherpard is breathing heavily.
Fisher tries to work over Sherpard's front leg with a kick but Sherpard checks it.
Sherpard fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

Fisher closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Fisher lands in his opponent's guard.

Fisher wants to control from the top but Sherpard keeps moving.
Sherpard keeping full guard, as Fisher tries to pass.
Fisher trying to control the position from guard on top but Sherpard is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Fisher drops back looking for a leg! Sherpard is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sherpard manages to kick Fisher off! Fisher jumps back into Sherpard's guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Fisher gets the takedown into side control.
Sherpard regains half guard.
Fisher is pressing down on Sherpard's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sherpard is holding on for now.

Fisher is keen to just control but Sherpard is a slippery customer.
Fisher not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

Fisher is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Sherpard has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Sherpard is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Fisher gets his way!
Fisher is controlling the position but Sherpard somehow manages to roll and ends up with half guard.

Fisher wants to work for an arm triangle but Sherpard is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Sherpard is not content to let Fisher control the position.
Fisher tries to pass to full mount but Sherpard defends it.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Sherpard shoots in and drives through. Fisher sprawls well.

Sherpard shoots for a double leg takedown but Fisher sprawls well. He's pushed Sherpard's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Sherpard shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Sherpard was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sherpard cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Fisher is trying desperately to improve position.

Fisher is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Sherpard is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Fisher can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Fisher might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sherpard kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Sherpard closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Fisher is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sherpard's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sherpard's back!

Fisher looking to break Sherpard's wrist control so he can sink in the choke. Sherpard remaining controlled and patient though - he really has to keep calm otherwise Fisher will wrap this one up with the rear naked choke!

Fisher is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Sherpard has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Fisher throws a sloppy head kick and Sherpard moves out of range easily.

Sherpard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Fisher's guard.

Sherpard passes Fisher's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Fisher has his foot on Sherpard's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sherpard works his way back into a safe position though.
