Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between John Skjelbred (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kirby Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jay has chosen Eye of the tiger as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Kirby Jay struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 136.3lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Kirby Jay enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, John Skjelbred! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Kirby Jay! The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Skjelbred gets a takedown into half guard. Skjelbred really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Skjelbred missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Skjelbred wants to pass to mount but Jay is defending the position. Skjelbred working over Jay with some ground and pound. Jay looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Jay trying to hold on to Skjelbred's head to control him but Skjelbred postures up.
Skjelbred sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Jay defending well though. Skjelbred trying to mount his opponent but Jay defends it. Skjelbred is working hard here to advance position. Skjelbred is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Jay! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Skjelbred throwing strikes here but Jay is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Skjelbred cracks Jay with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Skjelbred cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Skjelbred wants to finish this one by submission but Jay is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Skjelbred. Skjelbred scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Jay?
Jay is rocked! Skjelbred jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Jay manages to avoid the submission attempt. Jay is still in real trouble! Can Skjelbred finish him? Jay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Skjelbred. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Skjelbred working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Skjelbred cracks Jay with a big elbow. Skjelbred passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Jay! Oooooh, big shot lands for Skjelbred! Jay is hurt baaadly! Skjelbred is firing away with more strikes - Jay is covering up... the ref is warning him to do something. He's just covering up though still and the ref has to step in to end the fight! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). John Skjelbred!
