Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stephan Potvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and IRONMAN GAB (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). IRONMAN GAB has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stephan Potvin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, IRONMAN GAB!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Potvin tries a head kick but it misses.
Potvin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the ropes but GAB paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Potvin is looking to clinch.
GAB throws a head kick that misses.
A head kick from GAB lands but Potvin takes it in his stride.
GAB throws a lazy head kick

and Potvin counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for GAB!
Potvin wants to control the pace but GAB is squirming around nicely.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
GAB keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Potvin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Potvin with shots to the head and body - GAB looks very uncomfortable down there.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if GAB can do anything to dispel that myth.

Potvin can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as GAB is looking to escape.
Potvin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

GAB's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

GAB really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Potvin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
GAB really wants to buck Potvin off and get back to his feet.

Potvin is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but GAB is surviving well by controlling Potvin's body position as best he can.
Potvin is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. GAB can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

GAB is squirming around, avoiding Potvin's attempts to control the action.

Potvin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because GAB is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Potvin has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Stephan Potvin has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Potvin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in GAB's guard.
Stephan Potvin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
GAB wants to stand and escape but Potvin is having none of it.

IRONMAN GAB showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Potvin utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

GAB stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Potvin swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Potvin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Potvin is looking to advance position but GAB won't allow it.
GAB wants to get back to his feet.
Potvin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed GAB's head.
Potvin sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. GAB defending well though.
GAB is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Potvin is trying for a kimura here. GAB looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Potvin wins by kimura!
