PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vincent Mars (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stan Stuart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vincent Mars!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Stan Stuart!
The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Wagner Zegers and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stuart tries to clinch but Mars moves out of range.
Stuart throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Mars's waist but Mars gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Stuart off to one side.
Stuart tries to clinch up but Mars circles away and keeps his distance.

Stuart shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Mars is trying to defend but Stuart finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Stuart is controlling the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Stuart tries to pass the half guard into mount. Mars knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stuart is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Stuart is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mars is just riding it out for now. Stuart eventually gives up the hold.
Stuart tries to stand but can't do so whilst Mars controls his leg.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mars is trying to stand back up but Stuart is controlling him
Stuart slows the pace down in half guard.
Mars could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Stuart seems to be looking for submissions.
Mars avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Stuart.
Stuart tries to pass to full mount but Mars defends it.

Stuart is trying to work for a kimura but Mars is defending well.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Stuart not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Stuart lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Stuart lands a nice short elbow.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stan Stuart dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Stuart blocks a head kick by Mars.

Stuart feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Stuart stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Mars swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Stuart wants to stand but Mars is controlling his posture from full guard.
Mars looking to control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Mars can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stuart controls the pace.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Stuart tries to free his leg and advance position but Mars is retaining full guard.
Stuart is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Stan Stuart.
Stuart misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Stuart.
Mars tries a head kick but it misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Stuart tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mars paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Stuart.
Stan Stuart is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Stuart misses with a low kick.

Stuart gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Stuart is trying to force a seperation but Mars has the dominant position.
Mars tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Stuart just stands there and leans against the cage.

Stuart manages to pull guard.
Mars won't allow Stuart to sweep him here.
Stuart is looking to stand up but Mars isn't so interested in that idea.

Stuart looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Let's hope that Stuart has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Stuart wants to sweep but no luck.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Stuart has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Stan Stuart has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Stuart moves in looking to clinch but Mars pushes him off.

Stuart scores with a takedown into Mars's guard.

Stuart gets to his feet. Mars looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Stuart scores with a jab to the body.
Mars takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stan Stuart showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Stuart fails to land the takedown.


It looks like Vincent Mars has been cut.
Mars pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Mars throws a head kick that misses.
Stuart shoots in and drives through. Mars sprawls well.

Stuart rushes Mars and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Mars wants to break free but Stuart has control.
Stuart fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Vincent Mars has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Stan Stuart.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mars's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Stuart is trying to break the clinch but Mars is controlling him.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Stuart as Mars tries to tie him up.
Mars throws a punch but it's blocked by Stuart.
Mars tries for a takedown but Stuart manages to get underhooks.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Stuart stalling against the cage.
Stuart wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Stuart goes for a takedown attempt but Mars pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Stuart throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Stuart shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mars but Mars pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Stuart shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mars sprawls well. Mars wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Stuart gets slowly back to his feet.
Mars throws a sloppy head kick and Stuart moves out of range easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Mars swats away the attempt to clinch by Stuart.
Stuart shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Mars as he avoids it easily.
Stuart throws a right and a left that Mars avoids nicely.
Mars throws a head kick that misses.
Stuart throws a wild body kick that Mars sees coming a mile off.
Stuart goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stuart fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Mars checks it well.
Stuart avoids the head kick by Mars.
Stan Stuart seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Stuart shoots for a double leg takedown but Mars sprawls well. He's pushed Stuart's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mars takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Mars swats away the attempt to clinch by Stuart.
Stuart lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Stuart looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Mars is fending him off so far but Stuart persists. Nope, Mars circles away and we're back to standing.
Mars throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Mars throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Stuart closes this distance looking for a takedown but Mars circles away.
Stuart is looking to clinch.
Stuart fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Mars misses with a body kick.
Stuart throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Mars throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Mars bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Vincent Mars has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Stan Stuart is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Stuart misses with a body kick.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Vincent Mars.
Well Stuart has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
