PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Thunder Lightning (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brock Parson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lightning has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Thunder Lightning has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brock Parson!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parson bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Lightning looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Parson closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Parson lands in his opponent's guard.
Parson cracks Lightning with a solid left hand.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lightning keeping full guard, as Parson tries to pass.
Parson seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Lightning will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Parson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
I looks like Parson might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Despite being in the dominant position, Brock Parson just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Parson bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Lightning uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Parson.
Thunder Lightning seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Parson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lightning swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Parson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Lightning circles away.

Parson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Parson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Lightning really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Lightning has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Parson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Brock Parson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Parson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
