Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and sean melody (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). melody has chosen 50 cent as his entrance music. Royce Gracie has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Roberts and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie stuffs the takedown.
melody has a takedown stuffed.
Nice takedown defense from Gracie. No joy for melody on that attempt.
Royce Gracie has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of sean melody.
Gracie feints and as melody raises his hands in defense, Gracie changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gracie might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
melody utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

melody wants to clinch up but Gracie keeps it at a distance.

and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in melody's guard now.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
melody wants to sweep here but Gracie controlling him for the moment.

melody working away from the bottom but not quite defensive enough there because Gracie has passed into half guard!

melody is looking for a sweep. Gracie is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Gracie in particular looking to stall.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Royce Gracie wasn't doing enough on the ground.

and Gracie counters with a head kick.
Gracie shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Gracie works his foot free and advances to mount.
melody wants to hold on but Gracie pushes him away.
Gracie tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

melody is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

melody really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gracie closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
melody gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
melody is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Gracie's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Gracie's back!
Gracie manages to reverse the position and now he's in melody's guard. Nice work there by Gracie.

Gracie's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Gracie wants to get up but he can't break melody's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

and melody counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

melody seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
melody wants to control but Gracie is keeping him busy.
Gracie is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but melody pulls his head out easily.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
OK we're going to have a standup here. sean melody hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
melody drives through and clinches with Gracie against the cage.

melody tightens his grip and picks Gracie up, before dumping him to the ground. Gracie manages to land in guard.
Gracie is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Gracie really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Gracie gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Gracie instigates a clinch.
melody's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Gracie throws a nice looking combination but melody bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Gracie tries to sprawl but melody drives through with a takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
sean melody showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

and Gracie counters with a shoot takedown. melody fights it but they end up in guard.

Gracie decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Gracie tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but melody swivels and escapes.
melody lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Gracie at a distance.
melody throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Gracie's head.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

melody tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gracie creates some space and throws a big elbow, but melody sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.

melody tries to buck Gracie off but Gracie is having none of it.
Gracie is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down melody's shoulder. That is not cool.
Gracie decides to stand back up. Gracie steps back and let's melody get back to his feet.
Gracie takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Gracie looks for a takedown but melody sprawls well.

and Gracie counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for melody!
melody is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

melody is squirming around, avoiding Gracie's attempts to control the action.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Gracie cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

melody tries to lock up and control but Gracie gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gracie pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Gracie lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Gracie tries to control but melody wriggling away.

melody is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Gracie has hold of melody's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and melody manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that's the end of the fight!
Royce Gracie showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Gracie has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
