Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Spat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Amir Halilov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Spat!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Amir Halilov!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Vladimir Khabensky and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spat will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
No joy there for Spat, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Amir Halilov seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A combination from Spat does no damage.
Spat swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Halilov fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Halilov scores with a takedown into Spat's guard.
Spat looking for a sweep. Not yet Spat, not yet.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Halilov stays in close to Spat's body and controls the position.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Amir Halilov hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Halilov shoots in looking for a takedown. Spat tries to sprawl out of it but Halilov keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Spat manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Spat tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Halilov paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Halilov closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Halilov lands in his opponent's guard.

Halilov sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Spat's guard.

Halilov is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Spat knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Halilov on the ground.
Halilov slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Spat is not content to let Halilov control the position.
Spat throws a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Halilov advances to full mount.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Spat is in all sorts of trouble here.

Spat is squirming around, avoiding Halilov's attempts to control the action.

Spat is bucking up trying to escape but Halilov cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Halilov might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Spat kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Amir Halilov has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Spat defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Halilov.
Jack Spat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Amir Halilov.
Halilov looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Spat cracks a nice hook into Halilov's ribs.

Spat throws a good cross that connects.


It looks like Amir Halilov has been cut.
Spat swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Halilov misses with a takedown attempt - Spat sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Halilov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Spat tries to avoid it but Halilov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Spat to the ground. Spat escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Halilov shoots in for a takedown but Spat shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Halilov fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Jack Spat has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Amir Halilov.
Spat throws a right hand that Halilov ducks under and follows up with a left that Halilov also avoids with ease.
Spat tries to bum rush Halilov with a series of wild strikes but Halilov uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Spat is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Halilov defends well.

Spat wriggles free and stands up.
Halilov shoots and misses
and Spat counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Halilov tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Spat swivels and escapes.

Halilov is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Halilov is looking for a kimura but Spat is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Halilov to get the leverage.

Halilov is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Spat is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
