Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wanderlei Silva! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gordon Ramyay! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Mauricio Rocha and Seu Braga.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ramyay fails with an attempt to clinch.
Silva moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Ramyay tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Silva paws at him with a jab and circles away. Silva shoots in and drives through. Ramyay sprawls well. Ramyay tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Silva misses with a hook. Silva scores with a shot to the body.
Ramyay tries to clinch but Silva is having none of it. Ramyay is looking to clinch but Silva is avoiding it.
Ramyay moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off. Ramyay throws a head kick that misses. Silva gets a takedown into half guard. Silva is looking to take a break and control but Ramyay is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Ramyay really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Silva. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Silva prevents Ramyay from standing back up.
Silva is trying to work for a kimura but Ramyay is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramyay blocking the ground and pound attempt from Silva. Silva looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Silva prevents Ramyay from standing back up.
Silva has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Silva slows the pace down in half guard. Silva thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Ramyay's head. Silva missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Ramyay is trying to stand.
Ramyay kicks Silva off and gets back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramyay moves in looking to clinch but Silva pushes him off. Ramyay falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Silva to counter with a crisp jab. Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Silva showed some decent athleticism there. Silva seems to be working for a kimura but Ramyay defends the submission attempt. Ramyay on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Ramyay is trying to stand back up but Silva is controlling him
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Silva in particular looking to stall. Silva throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Silva in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Ramyay tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Silva!
