The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Holmes throws a head kick that misses.

Melendez shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Melendez showed some decent athleticism there.
Melendez is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Holmes defends it well.

Melendez drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Melendez jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Melendez is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Holmes to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Holmes shrugs it off.

Melendez wants to finish this one by submission but Holmes is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Melendez.
Holmes can't escape the position.
BOOM! Melendez connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Melendez lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Holmes hang on?
Holmes defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Melendez.
Melendez is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Holmes is forced to tap! Great finish!
