Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Andrew Voorhees (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Giona Tyson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Giona Tyson!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Voorhees drives through and clinches with Tyson against the cage.
Voorhees throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Tyson manages to break the clinch.
Tyson closes the distance but Voorhees moves to the side
enabling Voorhees to counter with a crisp jab.
Tyson takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Tyson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Voorhees pinned against the cage. Voorhees gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Voorhees rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Tyson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Voorhees lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Tyson circles away quickly and effectively.
Voorhees scores with a hook.
Voorhees misses with a few strikes there.
Voorhees throws a right and a left that Tyson avoids nicely.
Voorhees shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Tyson but Tyson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Voorhees fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Tyson manages to avoid it.

Tyson shoots in but no luck this time.
Tyson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Tyson wants to clinch but Voorhees slips to the side
and Tyson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Voorhees ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tyson moves away.
Tyson thows a left - swing and a miss!
Tyson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Voorhees.

and Voorhees counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Voorhees.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tyson is on top in guard.
Voorhees pulls Tyson in close to prevent any damage.

Tyson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Voorhees looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Voorhees looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Voorhees!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Voorhees tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Tyson wants to control but Voorhees postures up.
Tyson tries to buck Voorhees off but Voorhees is having none of it.
Tyson looks gassed!
Voorhees controls the position.
Tyson throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.
Voorhees wants to stand but Tyson has his arm trapped.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Tyson is trying to escape the position but Voorhees is controlling the position.
Voorhees tries to move into full mount but can't pass Tyson's legs.
Voorhees wants to stand but Tyson is controlling his arm.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Andrew Voorhees dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Tyson throws a good cross that connects.

Voorhees gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Voorhees - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Tyson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Voorhees pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Voorhees throws a series of punches but Tyson moves out of range.
Voorhees throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Voorhees cracks Tyson with a good jab.
Tyson tries to clinch there but Voorhees circles away.
Tyson shoots in for a double leg but Voorhees sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Voorhees throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Voorhees scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Tyson shoots in for a takedown but Voorhees shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Voorhees is looking to wear down Tyson with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

and Voorhees makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

and Voorhees counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Tyson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Voorhees lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Voorhees.

and Voorhees counters with a three punch combo that has Tyson backing up. Tyson nods at Voorhees to acknowledge the strikes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Tyson is defended easily by Voorhees.

Tyson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Andrew Voorhees seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Voorhees throws a low kick, looking for Tyson's leg but Tyson calmly moves out of range.
Voorhees walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Tyson checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Tyson shoots in and drives through. Voorhees sprawls well.
Tyson leaves Voorhees with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Voorhees has Tyson pressed against the cage, preventing Tyson from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Tyson jumps guard but Voorhees stands there with Tyson around his waist. Tyson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Voorhees is pressed up against the cage. Tyson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Voorhees down to the mat. Voorhees avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Voorhees seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Tyson misses with some strikes from the bottom.

Andrew Voorhees is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Voorhees knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Tyson on the ground.
