Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lance Upercut!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Darrell Abbott!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Upercut tries to score a power double leg takedown but Abbott sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Upercut somewhat.
Abbott will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
A cross from Abbott lands.


It looks like Lance Upercut has been cut.

Upercut closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Abbott to the mat! Abbott manages to get full guard.
Abbott avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Abbott keeping moving, preventing Upercut from controlling successfully.
Abbott looking to hit a scissor sweep but Upercut is one step ahead there.
Upercut has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Upercut wants to control from the top but Abbott keeps moving.
Upercut is really struggling to control Abbott but he's trying to hold on to the position.

We're going to have a standup here because Lance Upercut wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Abbott throws a right and a left that Upercut avoids nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Upercut drives through and clinches with Abbott against the ropes.

Upercut escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Abbott fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Abbott throws a right hand that Upercut ducks under and follows up with a left that Upercut also avoids with ease.
Darrell Abbott seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Abbott takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Abbott throws a nice looking combination but Upercut bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Abbott throws a series of punches but Upercut avoids them all with ease.
Abbott looks gassed!
Abbott throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Abbott misses with a jab, cross combination.
Upercut lands with a kick to the ribs.

Upercut closes the distance and clinches.
Abbott is pressed up against the ropes. Upercut has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Abbott down to the mat. Abbott avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Upercut darts in and clinches Abbott up against the ropes.
Upercut has Abbott pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Abbott manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lance Upercut. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Upercut wants a takedown.
Abbott gets underhooks to prevent Upercut's takedown attempt.
Upercut is trying to drag Abbott to the mat but Abbott just about manages to keep his footing. He used the ropes to his advantage there.
Abbott has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Upercut is trying to trip Abbott. He has hold of a leg but Abbott is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Upercut persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Upercut trying to control but Abbott is working from the bottom.
Upercut pushing down on Abbott's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Upercut lands a nice short elbow.

Upercut is trying for a kimura here. Abbott looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Upercut wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:36 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Lance Upercut!
