Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Griffin Retkovic! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lebron James! The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Jack Bonds and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Retkovic tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but James swivels and escapes. James lands with a good body shot. Retkovic closes this distance looking for a takedown but James circles away. James feints a jab promting Retkovic to slip. James then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Retkovic slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Retkovic fails with the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Griffin Retkovic. That's going to take a lot out of him. Retkovic shoots in looking for a takedown. James tries to sprawl out of it but Retkovic keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. James manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. The fight stays on the outside here - Retkovic looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Retkovic fails with an attempt to clinch.
James throws a good cross that connects.
Retkovic closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. James did well to prevent Retkovic getting side control. Retkovic thows a huge punch but James dodges it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round. Retkovic is keen to just control but James is a slippery customer. Retkovic seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. James keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. James pushes Retkovic off looking to stand but Retkovic dives back in and keeps control.
James taking some punishment here, with Retkovic in his half guard. Retkovic content to control rather than advance. Retkovic has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up because Griffin Retkovic just wasn't active enough. James slaps away a takedown attempt from Retkovic, before circling back to the center of the mat. James dips to his left and cracks Retkovic with an uppercut! Retkovic shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches James napping and manages to drive through into side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Retkovic grinds an elbow into James's temple. James wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Retkovic working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. James regains half guard, as Retkovic was trying to land strikes. Retkovic thumps the canvas. Retkovic tries to pass the half guard into mount. James knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Retkovic not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Retkovic stops James from getting back to his feet.

Retkovic looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Retkovic missing with the ground and pound from half guard. James regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Retkovic. Retkovic controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Retkovic is working James over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Griffin Retkovic. James thuds his right hand into Retkovic's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Retkovic shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. James avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. James blocking the ground and pound attempt from Retkovic. Retkovic throwing shots but James is blocking nicely. James wants to get back to his feet.
James regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Retkovic. Retkovic working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of James's head.

James is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Retkovic is controlling him. Retkovic postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Retkovic looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Retkovic takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Retkovic fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but James avoids it really well and circles away. James scores with a nice right hand.
Retkovic will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Retkovic shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with James but James pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Griffin Retkovic. That's going to take a lot out of him. James dips down and scores with a jab to the body. James lands a right hook to the body.

James lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. James lands a nice hook to Retkovic's body. Retkovic takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Retkovic takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Good standup being displayed there by James as he connects with a hook. Retkovic doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. James throws a good cross that connects.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James lunges at Retkovic with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Retkovic's hand. James scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. James lands a nice shot to the body.

James cracks Retkovic with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Griffin Retkovic is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A jab lands there for James. James throws a combination. Retkovic tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Lebron James seems to be getting the better of the standup. Nice uppercut there from James. Retkovic shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. James scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Retkovic doesn't seem bothered though. Retkovic tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but James swivels and escapes. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. James fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done. James stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. James bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Retkovic's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. James cracks Retkovic with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. James connects with a single shot there. James lands with a shot to the body. Nice body punch from James. James lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Retkovic backs up against the cage.
James is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Nice jab there from James. James lands an overhand right. James leaves Retkovic with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Retkovic looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. A jab from James does it's job there. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. James scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. James thuds a left hand into Retkovic's body. James sizes up Retkovic with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
And that's the end of the fight! Lebron James comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Retkovic has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
